Hi guys, I'm just starting to get back on the weights after a break of nearly a year and am planning to bulk up. I've just started taking Whey Protein twice per day but my brother uses Creatine. Is it beneficial to take both or is it even safe to take both? If I should only take one, which of the 2 do you think I should choose? Thank you all in advance for any advice you can give me!

Whey protein is a food. It's different types of proteins blended together in an easy to drink formula. This allows you to supplement your diet, or to take as a pre-workout/post-workout drink.

Creatine is a substance commonly found in red meats. It's also considered a food. Your muscles contain a certain amount of creatine naturally, and by taking a creatine supplement you increase the amount in your muscles. For some people the amount can be substantialy, while some people (like me) already have a seemingly high amount, and gain very little from it. The effects are that you can "push harder" for that last rep, gain size (from water retention) and see slightly better performance. Personally, I find creatine to be psychological more than anything else, but other people have had more noticeable real effects.

These are both safe to take on their own, and both safe to take together. Take a look on the forums to see what you should be doing if you take these supplements. Good luck!

they are both proteins so they are fine to take together
