Okay, well, FitDay says it's 39P/41C/20F. Close enough ;)

I've been playing around with cottage cheese again (hooboy)... I've just been getting so sick of eating it straight up these days, and the only old way of eating it that I never get sick of is in combination with my reduced-carb ravioli.

So, after an ill-fated gritty experiment involving soy protein powder that, all textural issues aside, didn't taste bad... I concluded that fresh strawberries could probably balance out the saltiness of cottage cheese better than some previous combinations I've tried. I came up with this, and it was pretty decent. Tasted like a blander version of strawberry ice cream. My mother liked the taste of it, and she still very much loves sugar and wouldn't touch most of the stuff that a JSFer eats with a ten foot pole!

5 ingredients, easy:

1 cup of strawberries, small or in chunks, fresh or frozen*
1/2 cup 1% cottage cheese
5 grams (1/6 of an ounce) blanched, slivered almonds**

Grind up the first 3 ingredients in the food processor or blender until smooth. Add:

1 cup skim milk
Splenda, to taste***

Blend, blend, blend some more... until smooth and frothy. Chill for a bit, or drink in a frosted mug with a straw for the milkshake effect.

269 Cals, 6g Fat, 32g Carbs (4 Fibre), 26g Pro.

*I used frozen strawberries, which is nice because then you don't need to add extra ice that can water it down. My food processor doesn't handle ice well, but did just fine with the frozen berry chunks. Remember: hull the berries before freezing!

**You don't have to specifically use blanched almonds, or almonds at all. I'm sure that if you want to use some other healthy fat source you can substitute it just fine. The almonds were just what was kicking around my kitchen this time.

***Nutritional content listed is based off of about 5 teaspoons of Splenda, which is 10 calories. Splenda isn't listed on Fitday, so I use aspartame as a token substitute to count the calories in my food logs.

I'll definitely give this a try. I'll have to go pick up some strawberries.

I've been putting cottage cheese in my protein shakes for quite some time. It IS very boring eating straight up after a while. I used to mix a scoop of strawberry protein powder into a bowl with a tub of CC and then put a handful of grapes in it and make sure I'd get a grape in every spoonful.

For my shakes I use CC, a scoop of protein powder, a small scoop of Fiber One cereal, a banana, an apple, and water. Probably more of a meal replacement shake than a protein shake, but I still call it a protein shake.

Now that is what we are talking about. That sounds actually, dare I say, GOOD?
