Yep so far the sources of many sights have confirmed that the Sandman, the villian who can generate his own body into a sand-like substance will be the new villian for Spiderman 3. What do I think of this...ITS CRAP!!!! I wanted Venom, sure that it would have been hard to put such a detailed character into a story-line but COME-ON THE SANDMAN!!!! Of all the villians him...I dont know why but thats the news. I am a big comicbook fan and I wait for each of these movies releases, but this new villian makes it certain that Spiderman 3 will be the end of its run...Both villians (Green Goblin/Doc Ock) were 2 of the web-slinger biggest villians, but the Sandman was a joke, he only lasta like 1 issues then Spiderman beats him. I'm pissed but what can I do nothing so I guess I'll just wait for the next big comic franchise...THE SANDMAN?!?!?!?!?!

I thought they'd develop the Hobgoblin with Harry Osborn, seein' as how he discovered his father's lair in at the end of Spidey 2 - they hinted towards it. Though the Hobgoblin was not related to Norman Osborn in the old comics... he was just a guy who stumbled into an abandoned lair that once belonged to the Green Goblin.

Sandman is a pretty obscure villain... they'll have to develop a more worthy opponent and storyline, and my money's on Harry becoming the Hobgoblin. Whatever the case, the first two didn't disappoint so I doubt the third one will.

They've already developed Harry Osborn as the next Green Goblin, and now they're ADDING Sandman. That's plenty for one movie, and Venom would take at least a movie to develop him like they did with Harry. Yeah, I'd like to see him too, but the franchise isn't ready for Venom.

Not to mention that the Spidey movies have always been about the human relationships of Peter Parker. I don't really care who the villain is. Doc Ock's a stupid character, and in theory Spidey could easily beat him, but Raimi made us care about Peter, Mary Jane, and even Doctor Octavius, so it was a GOOD movie. You just have to suspend your disbelief, and if the movie is at all as good as the last two, that won't be hard.

Well, there is news on superherohype.com of Sandman being the vilian due to some of thier reporters seeing tons of art of, the actor Thomas Hayden Church who has already been casted for the villian role. The pictures are cartooned versiona of Church as the Sandman. Heres a link.....http://superherohype.com/news/spider-mannews.php?id=2781

I also thought that they would do a Harry as the Hob-Goblin story but I am glad because it would have been a repeat, plus HArry Osborn was a wimp, he wasnt as hard-core as Norman Osborn. I also thought they might use the cameo of Dr. Curt Conner/The Lizard, to set-up the next villian but they didnt do that either so I dont know.

Personally I'd like to see the Hobgoblin be the main bad guy. I stopped reading Spiderman before the Venom character came into play but I went back later and tried to pick it up and didn't think much of the Venom storyline at all. In my mind that's when the Spiderman comic "jumped the shark" so to speak.

i would have liked to see venom in it. Maybe fighting Harry as Green Goblin Jr and Spidey. The effects would be pretty cool what with the symbiote being able to morph into anything, shame the Doc Oct's arms sucked.
Having venom spidey would have made it more interesting as well.

Maguire is young. I'm sure the Spiderman franchise will eventually include a little bit of everything we've postulated here today. Give it time, guys. S2 was only out last summer... we have at least another year to S3. Patience.

If I were Stan Lee, I'd save Venom for the final film of this Spiderman series.

Yep Maguire will most likely NOT resign for another 3. I believe it will end, but hey it was a good run.

hey supaspic do you read ultimate spiderman? they did a great venom story there that didnt have to include the whole, aliean suit from outspace. baiscly in the story peters dad and eddie brocks dad were working on a suite that could cure cancer and stuff, they dided before they could finish it. peter meets up with eddie again, eddie shows him what their fathers were working on (eddie was working on it in college with Doc Conners) i think they use some of petes blood on the black goo and it bonds with peter becoming his new black spidey costume. it goes crazy and peter gets rid of it and eddi becomes the new host for it. it was pretty good story arc.

*looks at his venom action figure* yeah venom would have been cool, but somehow i was never a big spidey fan. so i could not care much less which villian they put into that movie. i would support venom over sandman though :D in fact venom > every other spiderman villian. still he is probably too complex. and i thought that the gobo would return, because of the ending of spidey II.

i put really big hopes in batman begins though... that movie's gotta be kick ass. i really love that they seem to go back to the styles of batman 1 & 2... the dark side of the dark knight, not some freaking rainbow colored settings.
and x3, that should be amazing, too...at least x2 was really really good. spidey was decent, but uhm i did not like the movies too much.

edit: and sin city. that's one of the comic adaptions i really wanna see. i like those non standart comics quite a lot, and the cast i just increadible for a comic adaption!

YES I do, montlhy reader right here. Yeah your right that story line would be easier. But once again, even though I would accept that as an origin many of the nit-picky fans would not and would like the whole Secret Wsrs storyline.

Yeah I'm excited about lots of movies this year....Batman Begins looks great finally we get the Dark Knight again. The Fantastic 4, looks great, I'm not a big fan of Jessica ALba but hey she's Hot so she's forgiven. And of, course SinCity who has like almost everyone in Hollywood, looks great. I'm goign to go watch SinCity tonight so, I'll give you all feedback.

Then a lot of fans are going to be dissapointed, because no directer is ever going to touch an arc that big and encompassing with a ten foot pole.

 Your right, that story line is WAY too complex, so I just have to put the trust into the directors hands, and let them make the movie they think is great...I mean really How bad can the Sandman be?...It can't be any worse the the HULK! :p

Sadly, X3 is going to stink. Lots of people don't want to sign on because of Fox's treatment of Bryan Singer. The filming of Superman, and the start of X3 filming conflict by 1 month, so Fox dumped Singer.

Singer wrote the first two movies, and directed them. He's a huge comic book fan. Now all of the cast is nervous, and a lot of them aren't signed on.

It hurts that Singer left X3 for Superman. But that means that the return of Superman will be an extremely AWESOME movie.

The original sotry they had for X3 was interesting, it involved the pheonix saga, the creation of the sentinels, and multiple appearance by new X-men...but now I dont know whats going on anymore.

Im proud of being a comic book reader. I have met some of the coolest people in comic book shops. I finally even got my girlfriend into comic books shes doesn't look like the comic book type, but she's a secret fan of Ultimate X-men. But hell yeah I got tons of comics, and Im freaking anal about them too...gotta keep them sealed and in a closed/dark/cool place so no damage comes to them.

Yeah unfortunatly gorwing up I was never consistan with 1 title and instead have like 100's of different titles, so I just have boxes and boxes of nameless comics, some that bombed and others that are still running today.

I liked the Sandman as a villain and THC as the villain is an excellent choice. Hey, at least they didn't pick the Vulturer or Shockwave.

For all we know the Sandman could be a minor villain in the film.

Harry Osborne will be the next Green Goblin, we got that from the last film, they wouldn't have shown the scene for nothing.

It doesn't matter about what villain it is, one of the points of the films from what I've seen is about imagination, how Peter parker handles his life on the side while being Spiderman, it's what the second film was based more on. A lot of the film is Peter himself, not as Spiderman. Either way it's not going to matter and its going to be a top film. I'm not normally a big fan of comic book films or anything, but Spiderman was different.

Well just got back from watchng Sin-City, and let me tell you it is a comic book movie. Sin CIty is not like spider-man or any other comic-based movie you have ever seen. The whole movie looks like if the director just went frame for frame in the comic book. On my scale from 1-5 stars...I give it **** stars. But thats me, so please if you didnt like it dont maul me. Well hjope you guys watch it soon, I'll wait for your reviews.

i am not reading that many comics anymore, they are so freaking expensive over here nowadays. i have been reading transmetropolitan which gotta be my alltime favorite. have been reading a lot more like the darkness, gen13, astro city, hitman, spawn and so on... pretty much only newschool stuff. what's you favorite artist guys? mine gotta be alex ross.

Besides that, I have been looking at other movies that are in the making: Ghost Rider, The Flash, and the classic Green Hornet.
