Starting this year, I went on a cut (should have bulked, I wasn't 'fat'), and to cut a long story short, I did every thing wrong.

Not enough cals. I was taking in 1600-1850 a day - Probably should have been 1900-2100.

Overtraining. 3 x Lifting with poor PWO nutrition. 3-4 x fasted cardio done with too high intensity.

I hardly ever cheated/refed.

3 Months later - I am 60kg at 180cm. 18 yr old male. I feel I have lost alot of muscle w/ minimal fat, and now I just look boney and 'skinny-fat.'

I am seeing a dietician and psychologist, and understand that I have anorexia. (Lots more too this, but it isn't really relevant to this thread.)

Now I have some problems. I understand that I now must bulk up too gain more muscle, and I have to eat more - probably about 2400-2500 calories a day for a while, then more.

1) I no longer have an appetite. How can I spark it again so that I want to eat?

2) I fear my metabolism has just about stopped. I know that going up to 2500+ calories will lead me to be gain fat - my phobia is that I will yo-yo to an even worse state (Fat with no muscle.) How do I go about raising my cals?

Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated.

From a skinny, un-muscular eighteen year old.

I wouldn't usually recommend protein shakes, but i think your an exception to the rule.
In your case i would try to find a protein Bulk mix that has plenty of carbs in it (more carbs than protein).Try to find one that tastes good where your from, you'll have to ask around in your area for a good one.
This should make it easier for you to hit your required calorie intake and should be easier to stomach if your having trouble with lack of appetite.
Try to eat as much good natural food as you can aswell though.
I dont know much about your kind of condition, but i think this will help you out of it quicker.
Do not do any cardio, just do weights 3 times per week, or bodyweight exercises if thats all you can do to build your strength. :gl:

it seems like a catch 22

to spark your apetite you need to grow some muscles. to grow some muscles you need to eat.

so maybe if you get a really specific eating plan and watch it very carefully with the help of the dietician then you should be on track to recover.

also look into calorie dense foods so that you don't have to eat very much to get the calories.

you did that other eating plan strictly for 3 months, just realise that you are aiming for a goal if you are not getting there and are not seeing the necessary changes then change things up a bit, don't be scared you can't hurt your progress too much if you change things around if they don't work then drop them.

Good luck

How in the hell can 1600 be too low calories to be considered Anorexia? Did you do cardio 4times A DAY and weight lift 3 times A DAY? if not then you confuse me.
