I was just thinking, I have a jar of hydrolyed whey (ON) protein, which from what I gather doesn't need to be broken down by your stomach and can be absorbed right away. For right after a workout, this is ideal, but for any other time of day, wouldn't this be worse for you?

Let's say I also drink a protein shake as my mid morning snack. Should that shake actually be a casein shake since those take longer to digest?

I have a feeling the answer is yes. That is a bummer because I don't have much casein protein, but I have like 30 pounds of regular whey protein. Also, I like the ON whey protein that doesn't have any artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners, which I love, but I don't think they make a casein protein without all that artificial stuff.

^^^ make your own blend, flavor it yourself... cheapest prices, highest quality. I haven't ordered yet but I'm about to. Same reasoning as you-- I want a slower protein for midday shakes.. all the reviews say they make the best custom blends right now. They have a Canadian store coming in a few days which I'll be trying out.

That site is amazing, but holy crap is it expensive! :d_eek:

Casein with a flavor with no sweetener is $300 for a 25 pound jar?

Ya get what ya pay for, ya know? :D

The other major protein customizer has failed to meet their labeling with independent testing. Trueprotein offers copies of their third-party testing to any one who requests it-- the only company I've ever heard that does this. I'm sure the independents will verify soon enough.

If you price out any of the normal whey isolates vs. the high quality wheys you get from other retailers, they are the same price or cheaper... I'm not sure how you can compare the $300 / 25 pound casein price to anything else unless you know some place else that sells the high quality casein cheaper? You can't compare it to other normal wheys since it is a totally different thing.

Anyway :) I don't work for em and I haven't ordered from them yet, but you do have to compare apples to apples when judging the price. I think their best deals are the pre-arranged combinations that their pros put together for different times of the day... also consider your tolerance for bad taste.... as I've read that lots of these atypical protein powders really taste like ass.
