Hello. I'm new here and I have some questions about my workout routine. I've just started two weeks ago, and am hoping to look better in 10 weeks. I don't expect to get to my goal that fast, but I am hoping I'll get some kind of results by then. I'll still continue after and try to get better. Any ways I am 20 and haven’t been able to lose my weight since my son. I used to be very small, and was actually trying to gain weight till I found out I was pregnant. Now my problem is trying to lose it. I’m 120lbs and 5’4. I actually don’t mind being at this weight though. What I’m really interested in is losing the inches and toning up. The problem is I’ve tried two different diets in the past three months, and I don’t think I’m ready to try another diet right now. Maybe in a couple of months, but right now I’ve just been watching what I eat. Not too much junk food and my appetite has went down since I’ve started working out so I don’t eat but my three meals and I’m happy with this right now.

Okay, any ways heres what I do:

Cardio in the mornings before eating, and waiting 45 mins before eating breakfast. I usually just walk up and down the stairs for 20 mins and have been working on going 30 mins right now.
For my abs I do crunches and side crunches, and some leg lifts. I do both my cardio and abs 4 times a week.
Then I do weight training 3 times a week, doing everything in the same day. I do one thing for my biceps, one for my triceps, one for shoulders, one for my chest, and one for my lower back, and two different things for my legs. Then I again do some more ab work, doing barbell twists and bends. I usually do 2-3 sets of 15 reps for most of my workout. Then I like to do some box training a little bit after my weight training. I just do that because I enjoy the box training.
Any ways, does any one think its possible to get some results from what I am doing. I have been wondering if I’m working out a little too much too. I could use any help I can get. I also wouldn’t mind some help with dieting, even though I don’t plan to diet right now, I’m probably going to have to some time if I want to get to my goal. Please help me out.

Keep reading things around the forums. It looks like you are at about the right weight, give or take 5 lbs. You seem to be working at your plan, let's see if we can give you a few hints:

Always use as much weight as you can in your exercises. Don't be afraid of weights. Make sure your movements are slow and controlled. Cut back on rest time between sets to 30-60 sec., make it aerobic. For next 6 weeks, only do one set of each exercise.

I assume abs is the main body part of concern. Pick up this book (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0671014080/ref=pd_sim_b_3/104-1206378-7298333?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance) for exercise ideas and good theory.

You are on the right path, you just need a few details.

Dietwise, cut out simple carbs or sugars, watch proportions, keep them small. Drink plenty of water, a gallon a day, don't buy it in bottles, it cost more than gasoline. Filter a faucet if you have to.

How long ago did you have your son, and are you nursing? it doesn't sound like you are doing too much, but I'm wondering exactly where you are at post-partum?

Thank you so much for the advice. I am trying to lift as high of weights as I can, all though that’s not very much right now. As for one set, I’ll go ahead and start doing that instead. Oh and is it ok to have a little sugar every day, because I’ve went on a no sugar diet before and it made me really sick. I’ve been getting my sugar from C2 coke lately since its half the carbs half the calories. Other then that I’ve been trying to stay away from the sugar.

Oh and Savyart my son is a year old now.

I would drop the C2 coke and get your sugar from natural sources like fruit... banana's in particular are very high in natural sugars, but all fruit has natural sugar in it... other than that if you still need some sugar in your diet try having just a little bit of honey in hot tea, mainly... stay away from processed sugars like the ones in your coke and keep to natural sources ;)

You are so much stronger than you believe you are. Why not stick with water and get your sugar from fruit like an apple. You can get some more nutriments that way.

Ok thanks. I'll see if it works better with the fruit. It doesn't sound too hard, and if it works it will be worth it in the end.
