Besides the carbs and the level of sodium, are tortilla chips and salsa a bad treat to have or should they be kept for cheat days?

Check out the fat. I try to avoid them even on cheat days. Only takes about 5 chips to add up to a lot of calories. Supa Most salsa is great, the tortilla chips on the other hand are on the opposite end, very bad in terms of snack options. Frito Lay makes a Light or maybe it's a Fat free version, i'll have to check next time i'm at the store, so if your heart is set on tortilla chips, you might wanna look at those. Human Clay March 27th, 2005, 04:39 AM I don't know of any specific fat free tortilla chips, but I bet you could expand that snack with some cottage cheese. It may mimic both the cheese and the sour cream that go with nachos, and would give you some good protein in there. If the fat is an issue, but not the carbs, you can slice and crisp up soft tortillas in an oven. Stecman March 27th, 2005, 05:29 AM Baked Lays aren't so bad, are they? |
