This may be a silly questions but here goes....

For my flat bench press I am lifting ~140LBS (4x10). What would be a good weight to use on the decline bench press? I have tried everything from about 110LBS to 130LBS. Problem is that I don't really feel and "burn" from it. When I used 130LBS balance became an issue.

Any thoughts?

Most people can do more weight on decline than they can on flat bench. However, if you don't do decline very often, the new pressing angle may take some getting used to (as your "balance" problem indicates). I'd start off with as much weight as you can do comfortably, and then once you get used to stabilizing the weight at that angle, add weight. You should be able to decline more than you flat.

Why is everybody so worried about "feeling the burn". Isn't the burning sensation lactic acid? If it's something that we try to avoid in MAX-OT, why does everybody else try so hard to feel the burn.

Never did MAX-OT, so I can't really comment on it.. I just go by how I feel after the other chest exercises and when I am done the decline I feel as if I could do 100 more. I guess it is not so much the burn, but I have always been told that you should judge the correct weight by how you feel after the last rep. And after my last rep I feel I could go on forever (unlike the others).

Like most, I can bench quite a bit more on decline.
My max bench has been hovering around 270. Two weeks ago, I got 315 on the decline. That's about 17% more on the decline.

For safety though, you want to work your way up on any new exercise...
