Please move this if it's in the wrong place...

I've noticed that about an hour after my workouts I am very tired and just want to nap, and have no appetite at all. I'm following MAX-OT so I'm only in the gym for an hour, tops. When I finish, I drink a protein shake with creatine and glutamine. The thing is that after I finish drinking it, I have no urge to eat anything else and I just want to collapse on my bed. Which I usually do, and end up taking a 45minute - hour nap, then I wake up, and usually force myself to eat something with carbs and protein. I was wondering if this happens to anybody else? I get anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep a night, perhaps I need carbs in my post-workout shake?

As far as pre-workout goes, I wake up at 8am, have a bagel, with eggs, and a big glass of chocolate milk. Then around 9:30 I have a protein shake, and then around 10-10:30 I go to the GYM.

How much water are you drinking per day? This is a classic sign of dehydration.

I take about 500ml of water with my protein shake in the morning, and then at the GYM I sip from the fountain between each set. After my workout, my post-workout shake is made with another 500ml of water. Other than that, I only drink water with basically every meal, and milk every now and then.

Edit: I know for sure I am at least getting a gallon a day.

Are you currently cutting? If so what is your calorie intake and do you eat before working out? Getting tired can be a result of not getting enough calories.

Actually I'm bulking right now, I'm taking in about 3500-4000 calories a day, I'm a hardgainer. Going with 40P/40C/20F combination, and have been hitting it pretty consistently for the past couple weeks, and have been making good gains. I was 145lbs when I started lifting two months ago, and I now weigh 168lbs, and haven't gained too much fat either, I'm still in the single digit body fat.

Edit: Yes I eat before I workout, I already covered this, but I eat a bagel and eggs every morning, with about 2 cups of milk, and then a protein shake.

23 lbs in 2 months, thats good gaining Chang, your routine is obviously working.
I used to get quite tired when i started, and i still do but now its usually only after doing back or legs.
I dont think your diet is your problem though i usually drink more water throughout the day on training days as it helps with strength ive noticed.
If your training in the morning though you cant do much about that.

Thanks, I'm very happy with the results so far. I knew I should have taken before and after pictures! Oh well, I was 145lbs for like 4 years, because I was a long distance runner and soccer player, so I was constantly running and burning off calories. That's how I started with such a low body fat %. I NEVER hit the gym before, but I took a fitness class in grade 11, which was 2 years ago, so I had a general idea of what to do before I started. And of course, there's this site, along with exrx.net, that I have learned a phenominal amount of stuff from. And also, John is a huge motivation, just seeing what someone like him can do really motivated me. I'm doing this for myself though, I have been pretty lean all my life, the only strength training I'd ever done before was during Tae Kwon Do, when I won Ontario Provincials, but that was like 3 years ago. I ran everyday up until the point where I decided that I was going to bulk, and stopped all cardio. I think once I hit 175-180 I'll either do a cut, or continue a maintenance phase for a while, and then start another bulk later on. Who knows, the possibilities are endless!

As far as this whole being tired thing goes, I'm usually most drained after working larger muscle groups(back, legs, chest). I'm thinking it might be time for a week break soon though. Oh, also, some of the weight I've added is definitely water weight, because I started supplementing with creatine about 2 weeks ago. Creatine is great, it really made a difference in my lifting.

If you are bulking up you must be going to failure on routines......how many times per week are you going to failure on the same body part? Not good if it was say "three". If you can gain that kind of muscle in a couple of months you are not a "hard gainer" ( I think the hard gainer thing is a myth anyway......its all in how you train and what you eat and when)........if every time you go in the gym you're cranking the poundage up by leaps and bounds you're going to be tired after. I find that when this happens i go for "simple" carbohydrates (thats right.......good old sweets!.........contrary to popular opinion, carbohydrates are a bodybuilders best friend.) Protein yes......for tissue repair but stack those carbs BEFORE you work out. :gl:
