I am not new to working out... just new to being out of shape. Used to be much more active, now have gained alot of weight.
I am sooo motivated though... just don't know what's right or wrong.

I currently am 5'4" and 155. I have good amount of muscle though... just need to lose the flab. I have been fairly consistently sticking to my 900 cal/day diet, no whites, or sugars. I do 20 min of circuit free weights in the a.m. and 30 min. of treadmill in the p.m.
I have only lost 6 lbs. in the last 3 weeks... I am frustrated but refuse to give up!

What can I do to make my results greater? I am going to Mexico in August and refuse to go looking like this!! A vacation to a hot, tropical area can really keep you motivated! :tu:

You've got to eat more. More more more. If you don't you'll end up stalling out your metabolism. Plus at 900 calories a day there is no way you are getting enough nutrients or fiber to keep you healthy. If you don't feed your body what it needs, it will cling onto fat for survival - it's way smarter than you are at clinging onto fat.

Here's a concise description of what is happening:

(btw this is written by someone who had an eating disorder - I don't think you do, but it does explain why "low calorie dieting is a bobsled to hell.")

She has a lot of other very informative articles here:

Using this site (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/issa64.htm) I calculate your current maintenance calorie needs to be 2380 per day.
If your ultimate goal weight is 120 pounds, you should eat around 1800 calories a day.

That number may have blown your mind. But your body is a furnace, and in order to keep the metabolism burning, you have to feed it often with the best quality food you can.

All best,

Bisous

Supaspic recently posted a thread about "Calories and Starvation" This is one of the posts:

Why don't you use Maggie's spreadsheet for this purpose of weight loss calculations : http://maggiewang.com/bfl/WeightLossCalculator_v3.xls

it's got a good general guideline.

I don't count calories but I agree that 900 cal is really low.
Good Luck!

I posted to your other posting, but I want to reiterate that you must eat more.. must must must!! :)

Take a look at my stats -- and I'm 37 years old, not a youngsta with a fast metabolism. I lost my period eating only 1500 cals a day, so imagine what 900 is doing to your body?

Now I have at LEAST 2K a day and am still losing BF% slowly.
