For muscle recovery, if one group-such as your quads are soar, will working another groups-for example, your shoulders mean that your legs recover slower, because your body is trying to heal both muscle groups at the same time?

It would depend on how long ago your leg workout was.
If it was the day before i wouldnt recommend it.
What your saying is true, your body has to recover both muscle groups then and another group if you go back the next day.
You only have a limited amount of recover ability, if you over step the mark your progress will stop.

Would eating more have an effect on your recovery time. For example, if Im especially sore, I might eat an extra 500 calories?

Eating an extra 500 cals wont ease the soreness or grow more muscle, all it will do is expand your waistline, unless your under eating already.
