Does this sound beneficial to try implementing for a few weeks? the article is interesting
http://ironmagazine.com/article115.html
basically, perform one set to failure of a single muscle group in the morning, first thing, and again at night. everyday.
i would be doing it with chin-ups (palms facing me) to work both biceps and lats. then on back/bi day i would do regular pull-ups to get lats again.
BTW - I follow a 3-day Max-OT split right now.

It makes no sense whatsoever to work any bodypart moe than once in one day let alone twice a day and again the next morning.
The only thing they got right was the training to failure.
You need to work a muscle once to failure, just to stimulate muscle growth, then the muscle needs to rest.
Working it again the same day, all you have done is cancelled out the morning session and started the recovery process over again.
Recovery is equally as important as the workout itself.
To specialize on a particular muscle, do it first when you start your workout so you fresh and stronger, then i wouldnt recommend working the same muscle again for at least 4 days to a week.
Dont believe everything you read, just because somebody writes something doesn't mean its true.
Muscle mags are a great example of this, say one thing then you turn the page and get a contradicting story in the very next article!
I laugh hard at some of the crap that gets published in magazines.
No wonder beginning bodybuilders have no idea what to do.
You have to learn how to filter out the rubbish.

thanks so much Glenn.
I took your advice and switched to a back/bi chest/tri leg/shoulder split. so far i really like it, only had chest and back days so far though.
only thing i was bummed about for back/bi was i did back first (bigger muscle group) but when i got to bicep, i wasn't able to curl as much as i had the previous week (when i worked biceps first, and did them with legs)
any advice for that? just do biceps first before back? it wasn't too overtly less. at the same weight i had to cheat for 3 reps. then lowered weight 5 lbs and got out 4 solid reps. two last sets had to lower weight another couple pounds to finish. the first set was definitely too heavy for me and i think stole some gas from the rest of the bicep work out.

Dont worry about it too much, thats normal, if your doing wide grip pull downs for back then switch to reverse close grip, as in palms facing you
shoulder width apart.
This is much better for hitting your lats and is one of the best bicep exercises you can do.
Biceps tend to recover fairly fast so you may be able to hit them a couple days later with some different exercises.

isnt that identical to a chin-up, with grip facing you?

Thats correct, once you can do about 20 with bodyweight though, you will need to increase the intensity by hanging some weight from you.
