Hi Guys, Well my transformation isnt quite finnished yet, but i felt an overwhelming need to post some pics whilst this place still has that 'new forum smell' lol.
Well i started training about 3 1/2 years ago. I had no idea what i was doing and I got nowhere fast, lol. But i kept at it and kept learning. The knowledge i gained was the key to really making progress. In January of 2003 i began my first mass gain phase. My bodyfat was approx 24% at the time and using the knowledge i had gained over the last couple of years, I was able to gain 22lbs in 10 weeks, with only about 10% of that being fat.
I knew i had to cut now but my big downfall was always motivation, as a result i lost some muscle and unfortunately gained fat. I could never find the dedication to control my diet or exercise or most importantly, my state of mind. Well in January of this year I decided that enough was enough, i knew that i had the muscle under there just waiting to be exposed.
So after 3 1/2 years of learning, i spent two solid days drawing up my fat-loss plan. Coincidently (i hope you're reading this Mr. Stone, lol) I started my Fat-loss plan on Tuesday 6th Jan 2004, one year to the day after John started his, lol, at this time i'd never even visited this site!
So it was in motion, i found this site a couple of days later after following a link from bodybuilding.com, and I'm sure you'll all agree with me in saying that it has served as the single most valuble source of inspiration that i've ever had. So thanks John.
I've been on my fatloss for 17 days now. Here's the stats so far:
7pm 5th Jan '04:
Weight:197lb
bf %:24%
Waist:37in
Bicep:14.25in
6am 23rd Jan '04:
Weight: 182.5lb
bf%: 17.5%
Waist: 34in!!!!
Bicep: 14.5in
I have another 8 weeks to go, and I will make 8%bf, and boy are you guys gonna here about it, lol. Stay tuned.
I've posted some pics on a new site. never used the hoster before so if u get some kind of 'bandwidth exceeded' message then please try again later. The before pictures are taken a few months before i started my first mass gain (sorry, no measurements). The new pics were taken this evening. Feel free to post any comments/questions. John, a post from you would mean the world, keep up the good work, and thanks again.

Jingo Fri, January 23rd, 2004, 04:54 PM that's great work after only 17 days Mr Faceless :D
Maximus Fri, January 23rd, 2004, 04:56 PM Talk about envy. Great job man. No offense, but in the before pics you looked like an old man, especially since we can't see the face. Now you look like one of the jock-types I see around school all day. I can't wait till I get there :tu:
Greensheep Fri, January 23rd, 2004, 05:02 PM lol, thanks, i think i will post pics with my face when i'm finnished around the end of March. This is the first time i've posted pics in a forum so i figured i'd take it one step at a time, lol
greeno :bb:
Jingo Fri, January 23rd, 2004, 05:06 PM better no face than no pics at all :) i think nothing of seeing others semi naked in all these pics but still feel strange myself hehe, i guess we're all like that at first.
d!abolic Fri, January 23rd, 2004, 05:18 PM Looking good, but i think you're taking it a little too far with cutting. I'd say give it another month tops, anything over than that would be overkill. Hell, if i were you, i'd start bulking in two weeks, but that's just me. On a side note, you're not 17.5%. I think 14% would be a safe guess, maybe even less.

Hey Diabolic,
8 weeks was just my initial plan, i didnt expect progress to be as good as it is, my target is 8%bf, so i'll keep going for however long that takes.
Also, my bodyfat is measured on electro-impeedance scales which tend to measure on the high side, especially for someone on fatloss when the bodies water content is abnormal. I am in the process of setting up a body fat assesment at at my campus gym in a few weeks.
I will be doing another bulk after i get back from my easter hols, but it wont be an all over bulk, my aim is not to be a body builder, i am a kickboxer and so have have very specific size goals. They will mainly include development in the Bicep Chest and Traps. One more cut after that bulk and i will be onto maintanance.

ChrisAndNat Sat, January 24th, 2004, 12:58 AM Looks like your doing well, keep up the good work.
brownguy Sat, January 24th, 2004, 01:08 PM Impressive. Thanks for the added inspiration.
I also agree with d!abolic. Closer to 14% or less. Will you make sure to let us know what the results of the campus gym tests are?
Greensheep Sun, January 25th, 2004, 02:32 PM Thanks Chris and Brown, yeah will certainly try to get a proper assesment done soon, i'm also looking into buying some skinfold calipers, see if they offer any greater accuracy

Lindset Sun, January 25th, 2004, 03:44 PM Looks good!
Keep it up! :tucool:
Greensheep Mon, January 26th, 2004, 06:14 AM Hi,
Just had my three week assesment, weight is down to 181.6lb and waist is down to 33.5in. Tried 4 different online bodyfat calculators including mybodycomp.com. They all came out at 13-14%. Looks like you were about right diabolic!
I'll post a four week update next monday with more pics on the website.
thanks, Greeno :)
escher Mon, January 26th, 2004, 04:02 PM You look like a different person, and a lot younger! Post again sometime with updated pictures to keep us updated!
Greensheep Mon, January 26th, 2004, 06:15 PM thanks escher, thats a great compliment.
Looking back, i cant believe i was only 18 in the 'before' pics.
I think from now on, i'll update my site pictures every monday, can't wait 'til i reach my target!
Greeno :)
Greensheep Fri, January 30th, 2004, 03:41 PM Here's my nutrition training information, please feel free to post any questions: (written 27th Jan in another forum)
Hi, thanks for your replies.
Well i've just done my three week assessment. I'm currently 181.6 from a start weight of 191.8. My weekly losses were:
Week1: 4.2lb
Week2: 2.6lb
Week3: 3.4lb
My waist is currently 33.5in from 37in.
I guess i should give a rough overview of my nutrition, workouts.
Well, i'm following a 45/35/20 diet of prot/carb/fat. Not sure if u'd consider that low carb or not, and my approximate calorie intake is 2100 per day. My protein sources are Tuna, Turkey and a whey/caesin supplement blend (whey isolate). My carbs are from wholemeal bread and rice (i live in dorms and my only cooking appliance is a microwave, so i use 2 min microwave rice, i'm pretty sure u have something similar in the US). My saturated fat intake is very low (approx 1 or 2 grams per day). I supplement my Fat intake to the daily 20% with High strength Cod Liver Oil ( I would use flax oil but it's extreemly expensive in the UK). I eat 7 times per day and a typical day looks something like this:
8:00: Protein shake
10:15: rice, tuna (no dressing), Cod Liver Oil (CLO)
12:15: Wholemeal baguette with tuna or turkey (depends what catering cooks for me, lol) + usually salad
2:30: Protein shake + rice + CLO
5:15: as 12:15
7:30: Rice + CLO + Prawns if i'm feeling rich, lol
10:00: Proein shake
I am using a number of supplements, here goes:
ANSI Hydroxadrine thermos:
Luckily i have no side effects from Ephedra so i use the standard dose twice a day at 6:00am and 1:30. Lots of water with each dose.
L-Glutamine:
Twice a day, 8:00am (earlier if i have a weights workout to do) and 10:00. approx 5-7g per dose.
Flax seed Oil:
As mentionned above, very expensive over here, so 2g (capsules) at 8am and 2g at 5:15.
Glucosamine:
stated dose, 1 tablet, twice per day, 8am and 5:15.
Mult Vit + Min:
standard dose
Vit C:
500mg twice per day, 8am and 5:15
I always drink at least 8 litres of water per day, thats just over 2 gallons (and yes i do spend most of my time in the toilet, lol). I find it easier to keep track of my water intake by filling up 15 x 500ml bottles every morn, and i aim to drink a certain number of them by certain times through the day.
A bit of extra information about nutrition: For the last three weeks i have been completely t-total and have never wavered from my nutrition at all (aside from prawns with my rice occasionally). Also, i always make sure that i'm getting at least 8 hours sleep a night (did have problems getting to sleep when i was taking thermos at 2:45 so i moved the dose to 1:30, and made the morning dose slightly earlier and now have no problems at all, sleep like a baby, lol)
My training is pretty standard i guess. I use a 3 day split for my weights (usualyy standard Mon/Wed/Fri)
Mon: Chest/Delts/Tri
Wed: Back/Bi/traps
Fri: Legs
Forearms are included only once per week on Mon or Wed depending on how much time i have. My workouts last approx 50 min (slightly longer on Mon). Nothing new in terms of how i work out:
-Big compound exercises, squats, Dead lift, Bench press, dips etc.
-1 or 2 exercises and 8 sets per bodypart
-heavy weigts with approx 8-12 reps per exercise
Abs are included every other workout (once or twice per week only). I've had great results using only standard and reverse crunches. One of the best pieces of advice i've ever been given is that if ya can do more than 30 crunches then you're not squeezing hard enough, lol. So i've always done 6 sets of 30 crunches, just squeezing harder and harder each time, and they've never stopped growing! lol.
I've heard a lot of discussion recently about the risks of cardio in the morning due to high cortisol levels, but to be honest i've never had a problem and morning cardio suits my schedule and gives me a great motivational boost to the start of the day.
For the first two weeks, i was running (at approx 60% max heart rate) for 30 mins on my weights off-days, gently working up to 45 mins (still only 3/4 times per week on weights off days).
At the end of the second week, i received a leg injury from kickboxing, and so for the last week, i've been doing a cardio workout in my room with stationary shadow boxing, abs (have removed them from weights workouts), and (quite frankly) laying on the ground, propping my arse up in the air on my hands and cycling my legs through the air (yes i do look stupid, lol) But it does the trick, kind of like a primitive HIIT workout, lol.
I'm keeping a few things in reserve to tackle any plateaus i may encounter. My first counter attack(lol) will be a gradual increase in cardio frequency, throwing in a 10 min run on weights off days gradually increasing time. I can then start to implement HIIT. I dont plan on any calorie reductions.
well there it is,
Greeno
P..s the site will be updated on monday with new pics/stats
John Stone Fri, January 30th, 2004, 04:02 PM Very impressive work, Greensheep! Your diet, your supplement intake and your workouts all are just about perfect, IMO, and the proof is in the results you have obtained so far. Keep up the hard work -- I'm looking forward to seeing the new pictures and further improvements!
Give MAX-OT a try when you are ready; with your good diet I think you'll see some nice gains.
:tu:
Greensheep Fri, January 30th, 2004, 04:15 PM Hi John,
thanks for your reply, its a great pleasure to hear from you.
Yeah i'm thinking about max-ot for my next mass gain after easter. i havent done any research into it but theres no rush just yet.
i'll certainly keep things updated on a weekly basis.
thanks again

Poetik Proze Sat, January 31st, 2004, 03:26 PM I've seen you around on Bodybuilding.com. and I also have seen the pics. That is an amazing change in that amount of time.
Greensheep Sun, February 1st, 2004, 10:42 AM Hi Guys, i've updated my site with new pics a day earlier than planned, as i start uni again 2moz and wont have time to do it then.
My 4 week assesment is not until tomorrow so no new stats until then, sos. Couldnt seem to get the lighting right today, but i swear i'll try harder next week, lol
check back 2moz for week 4 stats
comments/questions are welcome as always

p.s. thanks for compliment Poetik!
Edit: if the thumbnail links dont appear to work, it's because the advertisements disable links while they're showing. If you wait 5 seconds 'til the advert is done, they should work again (if you right click on the pics and click 'open in new window' the ad pops up less).
GGGRRRR@freewebsites, lol.
John Stone Sun, February 1st, 2004, 10:45 AM Looking really good Greeno! Your delts are looking especially sweet, keep it up! :tucool:
Greensheep Mon, February 2nd, 2004, 03:24 AM Hi,
thanks for the comments John.
Uni starts again this morning, so i'm a bit rushed, but as promised, here's a basic summary of my fat loss statistics to date (week 4 = today = 2nd Feb):
http://members.lycos.co.uk/greensheep/quickstats.jpg
EDIT: forgot to mention, the steep change in bf% in the week two assessment is due to me having to switch from electro-impedance bodyfat measuring scales to mybodycomp.com. It's quite amazing how useless bodyfat scales become when your body drops water during fat-loss, lol.
Gotta go, would hate to be late for my first lecture of the semester, lol.
Greeno :)
escher Mon, February 2nd, 2004, 04:40 AM WOW... those are some amazing numbers!! GREAT work!!
Greensheep Wed, February 4th, 2004, 07:39 AM thanks for the compliment escher, i'm expecting to see the losses start to level out soon, 1-2lbs per week is what i'm aiming for.
This is just a spur of the moment thing but here are a few things that i love about my fat-loss progress:
1. Vascularity, lol
2. Using a new belt hole every week to the point where you have to make new holes
3. The normally worrying sensation that your jeans are about to fall down, lol
4. Seeing yourself in the mirror every morning, looking slimmer everyday
5. Seeing my pull-up numbers going up week by week as my arms have less and less weight to lift
Dont think this list would be complete without a few things about fat-loss that could be improved:
1. Peeing 23 times a day (slight exageration maybe, lol)
2. Carrying 10kg of whey all the way to the top of my dorm block ( a workout in itself, lol)
3. Peeing 23 times a day (maybe i said that already, lol)
4. and finally, peeing 23 times..............
feel free to make any contributions to the list,
Greeno :)
davey_fl Wed, February 4th, 2004, 09:22 AM you forgot peeing 23 times a day...

You've dropped over half your bodyfat in just 6 weeks! I'd train with you any day of the week. I've just taken a look at your diet, you have gone for a slightly different ratio on the carbs and protein, might be worth taking a look at before I go diving in on monday... see what differences it would make.
Speak soon buddy.
Craig
Greensheep Sat, February 14th, 2004, 04:58 PM Hey amino, yeah the 45,35,20 ratio worked well for me. Although for the lest couple of weeks, it's changed.
I chose to drop my fat intake and make up the calories with complex carbs and protein. It's now something like 55,45,10. Some would say that is too low, but i made the decision for my own reasons after a lot of reading and research and i'm happy with it.
Cant wait 'til mon to see the week 6 stats.
Greeno
Greensheep Sat, February 21st, 2004, 12:08 PM Hi Guys, I've updated the site with week 7 pictures, stats to be updated on Monday as per usual.
I've just about decided on my end date for fat-loss. Friday 12th March. This gives me approx 3 more weeks of cutting and also gives me 2 weeks in which to fit in a rather rushed transition to maintenance before i return home from Uni for Easter.
I dont remember if i've mentionned it before, but i plan to maintain over the easter break (and get a tan!). then When i return to Uni I plan to do a clean bulk beginning Monday 26th April and finnishing somewhere around the end of June.
I will then cut down any fat that I may have gained during my bulk and maintain over the summer until the end of September, when i return to University to begin my fourth and final year of study. Who knows what I'll do then, lol.

I had my week 9 assesment this morning and i'm happy to say that i've achieved two of my fat-loss goals.
I passed the 10Kg loss mark and my bodyfat measurement came out in single figures for the first time ever, so i'm very happy. I'm hoping to get my waist down to 30 by week 12.

Actually, I'm in the process of putting a website together, a simple, no bs, webpage with my guide to fat-loss and my guide to muscle gain.
I've been working quite hard on it which is why I haven't been posting in the forums very much. I plan on finnsihing and launching the site over summer, however I did upload the front few pages a week ago to show my Dad, you're welcome to have a look:
Greensheeps transformation guide (http://members.lycos.co.uk/greensheep/Root/index.htm)
The Philosophy is pretty simple: I present my opinions on what i think you should do to transform your physique, an if you dont agree with what i say then you can kiss my **** because I dont care, lol. It's gonna be pretty light hearted and fun to read. I've got high hopes for it and I'll try to keep you updated on its progress.

lol, until the site's up you're gonna have to keep guessing. But I think that without a doubt, the key is knowledge. I read and study every single article/journal/story that i can get my hands on. I then use all of this knowledge to design my program and then I stick to it like glue.

Greensheep Fri, March 12th, 2004, 06:45 AM This is purely for informations sake and not for critique but here is a very general overview of my current nutrition/training:
At the moment my diet and training is going through a change as I'm curently performing a transition to maintenance.
My nutrition is approximately a 50/40/10 split prot/carb/fat. I personally dont think that the body needs 20% fat provided the 10% you give it is all unsaturated.
I eat 7 times per day, my first and last meals are just protein. the other 5 meals are all prot/carb + fat.
I use constant intensity cardio at 85% of my max heart rate. I prefer cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I then wait 40 mins after the end of my cardio session before I eat my first meal of the day.
I am currently performing cardio 6 days per week, 3 days for 60 mins and 3 days for 15 min, If i were not on a transition to maintenance then cardio would be not mroe than 4 times per week.
I perform my weights workouts 3 days per week with a typical 3 day split. I eat a meal 30-45 mins before my weights and as soon as possible after. I purposfully do not eat a high glycemic meal after my weights, I eat my normal combination of prot, complex carbs and fat.
Unfortuantely I'm forced to do my weights workouts on three consecutive days this week (today, sat and sun), but that's purely due to uni constraints and would normally not be the case.
My supplements are nothing special, whey protein, L-Glutamine before and after weights and before bed. Mult-vit & min, + extra Vit C. Most of my carbs come from Ryvita (rye crackers), white baguettes, yes I did say WHITE, and no I'm not going to burn in hell, lol. Low glycemic is preferable for obvious reasons but higher GI's aren't gonna kill you. I 've been through weeks with all whole meal bread and I've been through weeks with all white bread and my fat-loss has been consistant (I live in catered dorms and sometimes dont get the chance to choose wholemeal.)
Thats about it I think, I drink billions of gallons of water a day and I try to get as much sleep as I can. I dont drink alcohol.
Thats about it in a nutshell. Nothing fancy really.
Greeno
Steele Sat, March 13th, 2004, 03:55 PM excellent progress Greeno, I love 40 year old bodies turned 18.
most "seasoned" athletes have bigger proportioned pecs
try supersetting simple pushups to one of your chest exercises
good luck
Greensheep Sat, March 13th, 2004, 04:39 PM Thanks for the compliments Steele,
Not quite sure what a 'seasoned' athlete is, lol, but check back around the end of June when I've finnished my bulk and I'll show you a chest, lol. Unless of course I go and do something stupid and drop a barbel on myself, lol.

oh I see, yeah, as well as the chest I'll also be putting some extra attention on my traps as i feel they along with the chest will give me the physique that i'm looking for.

escher Sun, March 14th, 2004, 07:08 AM you look ripped man... very jealous of your tranformation! are you AT your goal?
Greensheep Sun, March 14th, 2004, 08:06 AM Thankyou escher,
To be honest, my only goal for this 12 week fat-loss stage was to simply loose as much fat as possible whilst maintaining most of my muscle mass (I was willing to drop a few pounds of lean mass in order to really drop the fat quickly).
I didnt really have any specific goals to achieve, although in the last few weeks I've set a goal to lose 28lbs, any other UK readers will know that 28lbs is 2 stones. I'm currently at about 26lbs so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to ahcieve my goal.
I do have a long term transformation goal. Well actually, I have a number of pictures that to me represent my ideal physique and that's what I'm aiming for.
I finnish fat-loss on Fri 26th March, which gives me approx 2 more weeks. I'll then be on maintenance over Easter.
I'll be doing an 8 week bulk from Fri April 23rd to Fri June 18th (basic bulk plan is on my webpage). I'll then return home for the Summer and will probably extend the bulk for another 4 weeks until July 16th. I'm hopeful that after this 12 week bulk I'll have my goal muscle mass.
I then have just over 11 weeks in which to perform my final fat-loss before I return back to university for my final year. I am confident that by this time I will have my goal physique.
What ever your goal is Escher, just stick to it, keep learning and keep working, you'll get there in no time.
Here are a few of my goal pictures. I'm sure you can see that the guys are all different sizes. It's not really the size that I'm aiming for, it's more the proportion and the general look. There's emphasis on the arms, chest, traps and delts, but not masive emphasis on the lats (although they are very well built). I feel that it's very large lats that often differentiate an athletic physique from a bodybuilders physique:

Greensheep Mon, March 15th, 2004, 01:12 PM Hi Everyone,
I did my week 10 assesment this morning, the stats are on my webpage somewhere, lol.
The heat is really on now, I have just over 10 days of fat-loss left and I have 3 goals that I'd like to achieve:
1. Weight: 163.8 or less.
2. Waist: 30 inches or less.
3. Bodyfat: 8% or less.
I'm not gonna cry if I don't achieve all of these, lol. They're just a little something that I've thrown in to boost my interest and motivation for these closing stages.
So I have 10 days to drop 2.2lbs in weight, 0.1 inches from my waist and 0.75% bodyfat.
I think I'll be pulling out all the tricks from both of my sleves for this one, lol. Wish me luck!
Laters,
Greeno
MYBAD? Mon, March 15th, 2004, 01:56 PM GOOD LUCK GREENO!
It's often said the last part is always the hardest but I'm sure you've got the motivation to do it - I know I'll be watching with interest.
Can't wait to see your bulk results. Keep at it mate.
