Hey guys,

I am just getting started on a my journey to better health. Today is the middle of my second week. This site has been very helpful to me as I put together my diet and exercise program.

My question is about HIIT. I read a few articles and tonight I decided to throw a 5 min interval session in the middle of my 30 min cardio. I did 15 mins at 70% then I did 5 mins of 30 second intervals. Pushing to 80+% then resting at between 60-70%. After 5 mins I settled in at 70% to finish the last 10 mins. I was figuring I would add 60 seconds every 3 days until I hit about 15-20 mins and leave the intervals right in the middle of cardio routine. Does this sound ok?

Secondly I have been keeping track of my calorie intake and I have been trying to make healthier meal, but as a result I am having a hard time taking in enough calories. I am usually around 1,500 - 1,700 and I need to be at 2034. Last night I added an Odwalla bar to help make up the difference but I was still 2-300 calories short.

I apologize if these are silly newbie questions. I did look around for the answers before posting.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Your workout plan sounds great to me. Intervals are great for burning fat. What are you looking for with diet? You're having trouble reaching your calories? Can you describe your diet in more detail? Macro ratios and what foods you're eating. Once you give more information, I and others can post and tell you some quality food sources that you may be missing that you can add to easily meet your calorie goals.
