So the other day, I was thinkin about gettin buzzed with some buddies but I knew alchohol shouldn't be consumed while on a cutting phase. Then I had a genius idea....How about a cheat day where you actually eat clean all day and stay below your daily caloric intake, and get to have a couple of beers in exchange? I know alchohol still slows down your metabolism a little, but would this be so bad? btw, i'm thinking about once a week.

That works. Key is a FEW beers though.

And on the upside if you rarely drink all it takes is a few beers to be happy. :)

Or you cut your weight by 25% and abstain from beer for 3~4 months. :p

Actually, I'm a very cheap date since I dropped 50-lbs. Just a couple of beers make me loopy, but I very rarely drink. Last time I had a beer was the night we had the JSF group cheat meal.

Avoid booze if you're cutting. Beer in any appreciable quantity is empty carbohydrates and is not conducive to good nutritional choices. ;) I'd stay away from it if I were you.

im in college, so drinking is a large factor. I set fridays as my cheat days, I will cheat with my diet and I will drink. Hasnt stopped my progress at all, I am still losing about 2lbs a week. The thing to avoid is the massive binge eating afterwards when you are intoxicated. At 2am, the only things open around here is the donut place, the pizza place, the hot dog place, and jack-in-the-box

thanks for the responses guys

i think i will keep drinking to a minimum (maybe once every two weeks) but it's good to know that it is not terrible to do.

Moderation is the key to life :tu:

To minimize the negatives of drinking while cutting (there really are no positives, physically at least), don't eat any fat for at least 2-3 hours before you drink, or during you drinking, or after. Your liver will be too busy breaking down the alcohol, the fat will get tossed directly into your adiopse tissue. Carbs are easily broken down for energy in the presence of alcohol, so if you need to refuel, make it carbs & protein. Of course, keep the drunken binge eating low. I know everything fried tastes better when you're drunk. It's the worst recipie for cutting.

This may sounds weired to you, but I grew up in a Islamic culture where drinking alcohol is prohibited, therefore I rarely or never drink beer. But I did try it and I didn't enjoy it :p But thank God I never had to worry about drinking anyway...

Just want to add something, the plan you're making...

I think it's the same as if you're preparing to have a big dinner party late at night, right? Will it work too, if let's say you plan to 'eat-all-you-can' once a week?
