View Full Version : A not-so-surprising trend

I noticed something in this forum when people include their face in their posts.
In the "Before" pics, if you look at the eyes, they always look tired and kinda sad. In the "After" pics, the eyes look intense and more alive.
I think that it's a manifestation of the signals we send to other people, as John alluded to in the Health/Vanity thread in the Fat Loss forum.
Anybody else notice this? It looks like we're all improving our lives here.

In John's own pics, at first he is looking kinda lost and upwards (towards a better life!). Since he got more lean 'n mean he's been looking almost at the camera.

Anyone looking to get ripped is trying to turn their confidence around. If we were just interested in health we would stick to cardio.

This is a bitchin little community of support tho. Johns created a sweet nitch.

It's only been two months for me and I can see the difference in the way I stand up walk and even talk to people...

Before I was always feeling down and at work I wouldnt even say hi, and I would talk to people as little as possible. Now I'm much more sociable sp??? and I always look happy.

:tu: to a better health.

I cant imagine how happy I'm gonna be when I get ripped :p

It's funny because I noticed that I get "red eye" in almost all my pictures now. I think it's because of what you said, I'm looking right at the camera where before I was used to averting my eyes because I was ashamed of myself.

You know you can probably avoid that if your camera has a red eye reduction feature. Or by looking at a light for a few seconds immediately before taking the shot, so that your pupils go small. Or by looking ever so slightly away from the lens. Or if your camera has manual settings, don't use the flash and leave the shutter open longer instead. Or fix it in Photoshop.

Or don't worry about it cause what your eyes look like for your daily shots probably isn't really that important in the greater scheme of things :D

Sorry, the photographer in me :)

I notice on the days I have gym I am simply....more happy. Tell more jokes, talk to more people and just enjoy my time around people more. Its like lifting makes me more sociable :). Would make sense though, cause lifting and cardio would boost endorphines and serotonin too....I think.

It really pisses me off because during the week most of my workouts are at night. So I go home to a sleepy girlfriend and I've got tons of energy :(

Definetly the ol' runners high, not that I'm complaining :tu:

Once this semester is over I get to have a normal schedule and can train in the morning. Yaay!

Sorry, the photographer in me :)Say, thanks Andi! This morning I tried looking into a light just before the picture, and when I took the picture I looked just above the camera instead of right at it. As you may have noticed, no red eye in today's pictures! Good tips - thanks! :)
