Whats the standard rate of atrophy for muscles. What i mean is, if i spend like a year to get big (im a really thin ectomorph) and hten i dont work out as much will i loose a majore portion of the gain?

The general rule of thumb I've heard is 3 to 1, meaning it takes 3 months to lose the progress you made in 1 month. So if you spend a year working out, it would take about 3 years for you to get back to square one if you stopped completely. A lot depends on your diet and what exercise you do. You can always do some exercises (pullups, pushups, etc.) if you can't get to the gym.
