I have been online looking for a good weight training workout and have found many, but not sure if they are more for men or women..or does it not matter? I know I'm not going to get huge from lifting. I basically need to know which body parts should be worked together. Should biceps and triceps be worked on the same day or split up? back and chest? Where do the shoulders fit in? I used to do BFL but I don't like working my entire upper body because my biceps were tired by the time it was "their" turn. Or is this whole body training/split day a person's personal preference? Thanks!

Biceps and triceps can be worked on the same day OR split up. Same with back and chest. Shoulders are like chest ... whenever you do chest, which is pushing away from your body, you should do something that pulls towards your body like cable rows or dumbbell rows. Whenever you do shoulders, which is pushing over your head, you should do something to balance that like pulling over your head (pull-downs, etc). They can be the same workout or different days.

The key is that you pick A workout style. There is none better, they have have pros and cons. So pick ONE and stick with it. That is your baseline. Then, you can try other methods and find out what works best for you.

I found this website (http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=143006) helpful for deciding what kind of splits to do.

I'm a great fan of Body Pump - it works all areas so nothing gets too much use. Try Les Mills International website for the class nearest to you - I'm 63 so if I can do it anyone can. It's done to great music, I'm the oldest there but everyone is so friendly I don't feel like the class grandmother- I've lost that 'spare tire' and I can carry loads more shopping . I'm a shopoholic so that matters!
