View Full Version : SesaThin
Kino Sun, February 27th, 2005, 07:45 AM I just began using Avant Labs SesaThin (http://www.avantlabs.com/product.php?productID=37) as of yesterday morning. I'm not real big on thermogenic fatburners, and stuff that's gonna make me feel like I'm geekin. I had read nothing but fantastic reviews on this product, and decided to give it a run for myself.
Basically, it's active ingredient is Sesamin which is simply a Sesame Oil Extract. Well as curious as I am, I decided to run a web search on sesamin, just to see what there was on this stuff. Seems that this stuff does everything that Avant Labs claims, and then some.
While they market it as a fat burner, this could turn out to be one of the best overall supplements I've used.
I've already run an extensive search to see if it would be possible to simply buy sesamin alone, at a cheaper cost than the $24.95 (DPS (http://www.dpsnutrition.net/product_information.asp?number=AV021&back=yes&dept=1020&last=1020)) No luck though...seems that sesamin is a fairly expensive product.
slush_puppy Sun, February 27th, 2005, 09:55 AM That sounds so much better than the ephedrine/synepherine based fat burners. I'll be curious to hear your results after 6 weeks or so on it. You're the first person I know to have tried it (besides reviews) and if you think it works pretty good, I'll probably give it a go the next time I cut down. Fat burner + healthy benefits... seems too good to be true!

What actually caught my attention was it's stated ability to enhance lean gains during a bulking phase. The fact that it's nothing more than a fat itself is also intriguing, as I'm just now beginning to do my own research on the benefits of EFA's.
"Can someone say nutrient partitioning agent? Imagine bulking but your muscle is burning 20 times more fat when at rest. Imagine how many damn calories you could consume and still stay lean. In fact all of these studies where I am pulling numbers from are FED ANIMALS and FED TYPE I and II DIABETICS !!!! Imagine what Sesamin will do in a fasted state. We all know insulin is talked about a lot when it comes to nutrient partitioning, but I think this handles the other side of the equation. So basically sesamin can be used during maintenance or bulking to stay lean and make sure you burn more fat at rest. And, Sesamin can also be used during a diet burn a lot more fat."
I'm also taking 2g (2 capsules) of fish oil with each dose. We'll see...
Steve Sun, February 27th, 2005, 11:38 AM I'm curious to see how it works out for ya too but it almost seems to good to be true ....................... only time will tell. I'll be waiting to hear more about it. If it works out for ya I'll give it a shot too.
hobowitharolex Sun, February 27th, 2005, 12:38 PM a lot of people take it when bulking to keep extra fat off

I know str8flexed (Layne Norton) from one of the competitive boards I frequent. Real bright guy, (working on his PhD in biochemistry and nutritional science) and a big advocate of a few of Avants products.
I'm gonna have to break out the 35mm and pop off some pics of where I'm at right now. I was just doing this as an experiment for myself, but since I went and opened my mouth and started a thread...
Kino Sun, March 6th, 2005, 07:20 AM One week in...Sorry still no pics, but you'll have to trust me on this one for the moment.
I've been using the Sesathin religiously three times a day, with the fish oil caps, or a tablespoon of Udo's. (more on that later) During the week my I follow my diet plan fairly well. I'm not anywhere near as diet conscious as alot of the members here, mainly because of my bodytype, and knowing how to shed weight quickly if I truly want too. (3-4lbs a week) All of that being said, I haven't consciously made any changes to my food intake over the last week, so physical changes would be attributed to "other than diet".
Well of course I can't say that I would have been expecting to see any dramatic changes in a weeks time, but I have seen some. The biggest change that I've observed is that I'm not bloating after large meals.
All week, I've noticed that I'm not holding anywhere near as much water as I typically do. My mid section has really looked trim every morning, despite some less than optimal food choices the night before. Now last night was really a test. On my way home I called in a small pepperoni and mushroom pizza. It wasn't done, so I walked across the street to pick up a piece of chocolate at Cumbies. I actually got 3 BIG KAT Kit Kat bars. So for dinner, I had a small pizza (which I had to force down the last few slices) and 3 Kit Kat bars...There's some healthy choices. Of course I took my Sesathin and 2 Fish Oil caps before I started eating. Avant Labs states that Sesathin will allow you to cheat without experiencing the bloating, so...
Well guess what? This morning...I'm still seeing that trim mid section. No Bloat. Onto week two...
tankhead Sun, March 6th, 2005, 08:15 AM Hey man,
I just finished my first bottle. I must say that I am not as impressed as I thought I would be. I have compared my fat loss with my cut from last year and I am actually somewhat behind. My calories are just a tad higher than last year. I have been maintaining lean mass but I have taken it the whole month of Feb and my fat loss seems to have been hampered but I have kept more mass. I still am keeping 175 LBM and which is what I started with in January. I must say I am more impressed with the fish oil at every meal and Lecithin. I have started taking Vasopro for two reasons. 1 Fat loss 2 I am asthmatic and it does open up my bronchi. I had an order for another bottle of Sesathin, Glucophase XR, and Green Tea extract and right before they shipped it out I cancelled it. I did this because last year at this time I was down to 205-210 from 233 and right now I am at 214.5 from 223. I have intentionally sowed the process down but right now I feel that the fish oil, lecithin, nutrient partitioning, and deliberately carbing up has kept my mass on track. The Vasopro has been really working for the last two weeks. I just fit into my 34" jeans. I haven't been in them for years. Good Luck. :tucool:
Kino Sun, March 13th, 2005, 06:57 AM Well, it's time to revive this thread again at the 2 week mark for me. A couple of things I need to consider here while I'm looking at where I'm at a couple of weeks after starting with the Sesathin...I've been somewhat more consious of what I've been eating. Which only means, I'm not "cheating as much", and even when I do, it's mainly just frozen blueberries and rasberries with about 3"-4" of Readywhip piled on top.
I've also become more healthy supplement aware over the past couple of weeks as well. Which means that I'm making sure to keep my EFA intake as high as necessary. Typically...4-6g of fish oil (4-6 capsules) and a tablespoon or two of Udo's. Though I'm mainly going to take the fish oil caps with the Ses. from now on. Then...I've added Greens to my diet. I'll typically go through a 10oz bag of romain salad per day, but the Greens have increased my digestive enzymes, anti-oxydant and probiotic intake.
All of that being said...I'm amazed at where I'm at only two weeks later. I think that with the additions of the other supplements at the same time as the Sesathin, it's pretty difficult for me to say to others..."Sesathin did this". Though, I will be ordering another bottle or two next week. I've taken it easy in regards to my own training for the past week and a half due to different reasons. Visually, it's looks like I've dropped about 2% bodyfat, though some of that could of been my body just releasing water.
So...I'm seeing enough results overall that I'm confident in ordering more, if that's worth anything. For those that really understand the variables that I've thrown into my diet as well...I do understand that any of those could have been instrumental in the fat loss. In a nutshell, and at this point in my little experiment, I am confident enough to throw this statement on the table. If you've been wondering about if what you've read about Sesathin is true, I'd say grab a bottle and see for yourself.
More updates to come...
Kino Wed, March 23rd, 2005, 10:51 AM Sorry I missed the 3 week update, and I know that I never got any before pics up so that members could see any results for themselves. But two things here...
A) I'm amazed at the results that I've seen since starting on the SesaThin a little more than 3 weeks ago. Cardio for me is walking, hiking, biking and kayaking...Meaning, I don't do cardio, unless it's a by product of my doing something I enjoy...aka walking, hiking, biking and kayaking. (yeah I know, my trainer isn't getting used...sue me  ) I have done my typical hiking/walking through the state park on the weekends, but that's it.
B) I was impressed enough with what I saw in 2-3 weeks time, that I got two more bottles of SesaThin on last weeks DPS order.
I don't get excited about every product that I try, but this is one that I've been telling everybody around me about. Keep in mind that I am following the recommended 1/4 teaspoon 3 times a day, religously. I'm not that big on any supplement that I adhere to daily usages that strictly.
Just my 3 week two cents. :tu:
