I've had this difficulty more than once with these forums. If I take longer than two or three minutes to compose my reply, my browser gives me an error message when I submit. The submission goes through, but it shuts down my browser and I have to restart it and find the site again.
I'm using Internet Explorer 6.0.

i had that problem a few times, posted about it here. I didn't link it to the amount of time it took at the time and i've not had any problems with it since, just seemed to be for a few days i'd crash all the time while submiting.

I have the problem that if I take over 10mins writing my reply when I press submit it has logged me out and says I need to log in. I guess its the percieved inactivity while I'm typing. Its really annoying because you lose what you were typing, so everytime I post now I copy the text before posting just in case.
Does this happen to anyone else?

There are no time limits on replies.
After 15 minutes of inactivity, you are taken off the "active users" list and all unread posts are marked as read. This does not log you out if you have cookies enabled and have checked the option "remember me".
To do this, log out using the "Log Out" link in the main tool bar, and when you log back in make sure the tick box "Remember me" is checked. This will prevent you from being logged out after the 15 minute timeout (you will still be taken off the active users list, of course, but it won't log you out). You must have cookies enabled to use this feature.
As for the browser crashes, that obviously should not be happening regardless of what this forum does. I've gone way longer than 15 minutes making a reply using IE 6 and have never had a crash or had the system log me out, and so's Lisa. It's got to be a problem local to your computer or browser.
