Hello - I was hoping to get you input on the subject mentioned above. I kinda fell off the bus for a week or so and I'm getting some momentum back as far as working out. Besides that I needed input on my supplements. Currently I'm taking 2 multivitamins in the morning. In addition I'm also taking a product made by GNC called Thermo Burst. I have to say that it does increase my body heat and does allow me to work out longer. I take 3 of those about 30 minutes prior to my workout. I'm eating much more veggies and fruits and after my workout I have a 2 scoop protein shake using chocolate powder and low fat soy milk. I wasn't able to find a non fat soy milk but i'll keep looking. Anyhow to get to the point, I purchased a small bottle of Citrucel. It's a form of powder fiber. I've had for about 1 month. I purchased this because I wanted to make sure my pipes were flushed regularly. At first I was taking it every other day, then my girlfriend made a good point that my body would become dependent on it and I would be able to use the can without it. So I reduced my intake to once a week - Sunday morning. My question is do you think that taking this is smart to take more than once a week? I felt reallly good when I was taking it every other day and I felt lighter. I think I was even literally lighter when I stepped on the scale. Are there any adverse side effects to taking this too much - I mean it's only fiber right? Thanks in advance!

I take citrucel everyday, my body may be dependent on it but I'm more regular, which I like.

As verified by my doctor, you only need be concerned about dependency with laxatives.

Taking a soluble fiber supplement like Citrucel (or Konsyl as I take) is safe, and works better, when taken every day.

Actually, a new study has come out over the past couple months showing that even laxatives don't cause dependancy.

As far as fiber powders, all they are doing is adding bulk to your system to "help" you out a bit. They aren't causing any reallignment of your bodyily processes or anything along that line. Many people take it everyday.
