I was also hoping John would pick up on, and enjoy the cornflower-blue reference from Fight Club, but no dice.

Or maybe in his line of work the cornflower-blue reference was already too overplayed, as it is in most software development organizations. Almost every meeting GUI meeting i'm in, someone brings it up, always gets a laugh.
