I'm no expert, but I've never heard of it. So, I'm guessing no. What's it supposed to do?

Is Colostrum a worth-taking supplement???

I'd have to do some real back tracking to find the articles I've read on it, though everything has been possitive. I've never looked into supplementing with it alone, since the majority of the protein powders I use incorporate it in their ingredients. IE: Beverlys Ultra Size (it was dropped due to the mad cow scare), Cytosport's Muscle Milk, and EvoPro.
I know that you can get it added to custom mixes at True Protein, and Protein Customizer. I don't know that I would go out of my way to by it alone, when there are so many products available that already have it included. It's not a magic ingredient that is going to make you get big overnight...though I will admit to checking my powders when I read about it myself.

Colostrum. That would be the stuff that a nursing mother produces for several hours after giving birth, before the breast milk comes in. Supposedly very good for babies (greatly improves the immune system, possibly increases intelligence, etc.) , but I've never heard of adults taking it. Do you drink it? Does it come from a cow or are there donor sources I'm unaware of?

It's typically included as Bovine Colostrum in the protein powders that are marketing as being as close to possible to "mothers milk". The idea being that mothers milk is one of the highest sources of growth nutrients.

I was drinking a half cup a day but unfortunately didnt get any discernable results simply b/c I kept screwing up on the diet.

I bought it raw at 1 1/2 gallons (pretty much straight from the cow.)
It made me feel great actually and I did stop catching colds so much during that time, which was around Christmas (winter=getting sick) and when I was eating all kinds of crap.
My brother also started to come down with something one night and I gave him about a cup to drink during the day and he was better the next morning. Could have been a coincindence, who knows.

Anyhow, the benefits will depend on where you get it. The au natural is best but I'm sure powders are good too to some degree.
Hard to say whether it's actually worth it though as it's quite expensive.
Personally I wouldnt buy it unless raw simply b/c the raw will cost the same as powdered and you'll get a hell of alot more.

I'm debating on whether to buy more colostrum b/c I got some other stuff that is simply a great veggie/ berry drink and the effects are quite astounding (keeps me full for hours, very noticeable energy boost)
So it's a toss up----still havent decided on how to devide the paycheck. :p

since the thought of human colostrum weirds me out....cow colostrum is out of the question...

Then again, the thought of milk is just as weird.
