I doubt it's broken. If it were broken, it would be very swollen and almost impossible (or impossible) to move. This is how my toe looked when I broke it a couple years ago. Does it look anything like this?

That is what MY toe looked like a few weeks ago. Several months ago, I stubbed the hell out of it, and it pretty much looked identical to your toe above. Then, about a month ago, I STUBBED THE EXACT SAME TOE AGAIN! And it again turned into a rather unpleasant facsimile of your picture above. A month later, it is still black and blue, and hurts like hell whenever I do calf-raises. I've often wondered if it were broken or just badly contused. Either way, it is certainly unpleasant. You both have my sympathy :d_frown:

I would have to agree with John Stone. My little toe on my right foot is the only bone I have ever broken, and I have broken it three times! - It has been 10 years since the last break, but it did swell really badly and my toe and part of foot was swollen and black and blue. THe first time I broke it was jumping on the trampoline, my sister grabbed my foot in mid air and twisted... you can imagine what happened next. THe next two times I broke it just by stubbing it into a metal pole at a swim park ( no shoes on) and into a wooden support post in my house ( once again, with no shoes on.)

I feel for you!
I would guess unless it is purple and bruised pretty badly, it probably isn't broken. Apart from icing it and keeping it elevated, there isn't much they can do for a broken toe. :d_frown:

If you go to emergency room, (unless it is really smashed or something) all they are going to do is take xray, give pain killers, and tape it to the next toe.
