It has been exactly one-month since I started going to the gym, and as I said before, the first time I work out nearly everyday.

Here is progress.

73.0 kg, as of weighing today, there is exactly 0 change from one month ago

body fat -2.5% overall.

HUGE increase in cardiovascular endurance
increase in strength.

Here are my questions. Is this a decent rate of improvement for one month?
Also, since my weight has not changed at all, then I have gained as much muscle (minus water or whatever small items) as lost fat. Although I am not complaining, if I am trying to cut, does this mean I could possibly be eating too much?

I have not been checking my body fat everyday, only twice now, but I check my weight everytime I go to the gym, and I have to be honest, that it just hasnt been moving (fluctuates between 72-73 kg).

Also, the scale I used is owned by the gym and its an electrical resistance type, but I really think it is quite accurate. u have to enter your age, height, and size of waist. Then you hold these handles infront of you during the measuring, which takes about 5 seconds. It tells you your base metabolic rate, and then tells you your body fat AND muscle percentages overall and for each major body part - abdomen, legs, upper body, and arms. Since I know my body, where I have more muscle or fat than other places, where I am weak, etc. I was surprised how spot on it was.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Nip,

It's a little difficult to say about your progress. If you are truly down 2.5% BF in 30 days that's great--especaily at a weight of 73 kgs (160lbs).

How's your waist measurement? Has it gone down? Pants fitting a little loose?

You asked "Am I eating too much?" If you are loosing BF then no. A little more muscle mass will only help you keep the weight off when you reach your goal.

Don't worry about daily checks on your weight or BF %. Once or twice a week is fine. I know a personal trainer that forbids his clients to check those things more than once every TWO weeks.

Keep up the work. Start taking some body measurments to track your progress--especially your waist measurment.

its quite possible to lose 2.5% in a month, but not while adding the same in muscle I dont think (since his weight didnt change)

sorry may have misread.. is it the fatloss percentage or the overall percentage of bf? If its the latter then thats what im disagreeing with.

i am not sure what you mean. what is the difference between those two statements.

anyway, i did the math, and a 2.5% loss of body fat over one month would equal a total loss of fat by 1.85 kg, or 4 pounds. Every body says 1-2 pounds a week is the goal to shoot for, so why is my result so impossible?

my body fat went from 17.4% to 14.9%
Even though I obviously want to lose body fat, at my current weight and height (73kg 178cm), should I not really want to lose any total body weight?

yes my waist has slimmed a little, but mostly i notice it in my lower back, buttocks, and legs. A little has come off the gut, but thats the last place that will start to come off, so I am not expecting too much there until another -2.5% or so.

sorry may have misread.. is it the fatloss percentage or the overall percentage of bf? If its the latter then thats what im disagreeing with.

oh, yeah, one more thing.

Obviously if I am losing, I am not eating too much. But what I meant was, could I lose fat a little more quickly if I ate a little less?

Or should I just stay at the pace I am at now (meaning the way/frequency I am working out and current diet scheme)?

There you go then :) its a fatloss percentage (2.5) rather than a body fat percentage (17.4 -> 14.9%) . 2.5% is pretty much a hardcore bf level for contest ready bodybuilders, thats why I was saying its pretty unlikely it was your body fat.

Just thrown off by your body fat -2.5% overall. Anyway ignore me

Man - if you're peeling away bodyfat while building equal weight in muscle - count your blessings as you've achieved what the majority of folks here are striving to do - loose fat without losing muscle!

I stay stay with what you're doing for another month or two - then look at tweaking it.

haha! now i get what you were trying to say. that would be pretty funny if i was trying to tell everybody i was only 2.5% bodyfat!
