Hello!!!
Well, I assembled my NEW powertec power rack and utility bench last night. And I love the rack, only concern is the bench. The gap between the pads does not bother me, my main concern is just how far is this bench supposed to DECLINE? I really wanted a deep decline bench, I have been using flat and incline on my crossbow. There is 1 pin on the bench that it can never reach on decline, did I assemble something wrong? I have thought about building a 2x4 platform to raise the front, but I should not have to do this for such a expensive piece of equipment, can anyone who owns this bench help out? Thanks.

Hello jbird,

I seem to have the same problem. Just assembled the bench, and the last hole for the decline cannot be reached. It seems that the rubber bumper prevents it. No use taking it out, because the piece of metal where it is screwed on is welded to the frame. :/

Oh well. If there is some fix for this, then I would like to know as well.

i'd call powertec, they're friendly and it's probably something simple to fix. my P-UB, same model as yours, can reach the last hole.

I'd try fiddling with it, it won't break.

The question about the rack and bench brings up a question I have as I think about getting a rack (probably a half one because of space limitations). Please excuse my ignorance, but I have no experience with a separate utility bench. How do you keep the bench stable? With a regular weight bench (with attached uprights), the bench is immovable, but with an unattached bench, is there an issue with the bench moving during lifts? Or is there a way to fix it in place? And how easy is it to move the bench out of the way when necessary?

Any help will be appreciated.

Jim d.,
The bench moves out pretty quickly, in fact I always turn it around for military presses, it has wheels on the back, but the bench is really light and easy to move. Just because it is light does not mean it is not solid. I have had no rocking or stability issues with any of my lifts. I really like it and it does fit well inside the rack. I am able to change exercises very quickly, I can switch from squats inside the rack to bench press in less than a minute. Highly recommend the rack for your workouts, with seperate bench. Hope this helps.
