View Full Version : Can you clear this up...meal after fasted cardio?

Okay, I've just started doing fasted Cardio in the morning. Before I did it in the evenings but I've been managing to get up that little bit early to get it done.

Now.....I do my Cardio straight away then as soon as I've finished I have a protein shake. 15mins later, I'll have my QuakerOats with milk/water!

I also tried having the shake first...doing the Cardio...then 15mins later having my Oats!

I there a correct/better method of doing this..(Cardio/shake/oats)???

After fasted cardio, it is suggested that within 30 minutes you eat a protein fat meal. At the medium intensity of the fasted cardio, you shouldn't have used up muscle glycogen, therefore you don't need to restock on carbs. Now if you did HIIT training, weights in the morning, it would be a different story, and you shouldn't be doing those fasted.

The carbs after fasted cardio will put a stop to the fat burning effect much more than a protein fat meal would do.
Have your oatmeal as your second meal of the day.

If you insist on having the protein shake and oatmeal, then have the protein shake 15-30 minutes after cardio (sugarless, milkless is much better) and have the oatmeal an hour and a half after that.

I wasn't sure whether to have the shake before or after Cardio.

So I'm better to have an omelette for breakfast if i've done morning Cardio?

*scratches head* How would it be 'fasted' cardio if you drank the shake before cardio?

And yes, an omelette or other assorted protein/fat meals work well.

So carbs after cardio is bad? I have been eating 4 eggs (2whole/2white) cup of OJ and 1 slice of wholewheat bread...is this bad for an after cardio meal...i have been not drinking a shake b/c i figured it was useless since i didnt actually lift weights...is this bad?

I know...Common sense! I'm stupid really...Brain not functioning...I've been having a Blonde week!! ..... :eek: (Hide's under the desk from all the woman in the office!) :lol:
