i read up alot on what creatine does for the body yet im still not sure if i should take it while i am trying to get my body fat down to a low percent...i hear that it makes your muscles look fuller by filling it in with water and giving you energy to do more reps in ur workout..and all of these sound like good ways to burn more calories and lose more body fat...but will the water from the creatine look as muscle or would it look as fat...if it looks like fat it may be a good idea for me to just take an all natural approach at losing body fat...i am trying to get to 8% body fat or maybe even lower in a month..estimating, i would say ima t about 17 to 18% because i can see my upper abs coming in just not the full 6...is this a realistic goal...i have been running 2 miles every morning six days a week..i want to know is that doing too much or should i keep this routine up...i have also been working out 3 times a week doing low weight, high reps...and on a pretty descent diet, staying away from fast foods and fried foods....answering theese questions for me would be a lot of help in achieving my goal and dont be afraid to give me any extra tips on helping me lose my body fat

I say creatine and cutting don't mix. I am waiting to hear and see myself proved wrong.

its gotta be better than 'no fast food or fried food" for your diet. that wont cut it. and change your routine from high reps low weight to low reps high weight.

also, you cant go from 18 to 8% in a month. thats a 4 month process at least. if you have your top abs coming out also, then you arent 18%.

Couldn't you use the creatine to help you build more lean mass (with more muscle you'd burn more calories all the time).

It doesn't make you add fat it causes you to retain water, i'm not sure but i think that water weight is a little bit easier to get rid off. So once your ready you can just go off the stuff, drop the water, keep some of the muscle, and ultimately burn more calories everyday with your newly added muscle.

I use creatine post workout for recovery only. Some people use it, some don't. Even when bulking, I never could "load" creatine off and on . My body just never liked it. PWO has worked great for me

im cutting and am starting on creatine tommorow
Im going to have 5 grams every morning, and another 5 grams after weight training sessions.
Im hoping it will help me retain lean mass, while giving me a little extra energy during lifting.

I've no experience with this but here's a comment from Chris Aceto that's relevant:

Creatine for Cuts

Did you know creatine – the muscle building supplement – can aid fat loss? Creatine exerts an increase in metabolism when combined with weight training – to the tune of 100 calories a day. So, make sure you get your 4-7 grams on each training day taken with the meal following training. (Intl Journ Sports Med. 8:199, 1998)
