sox311 Wed, February 16th, 2005, 10:30 AM Question: How often after lifting weights do you get DOMS?
Answer choices:
1-Always
2-Most of the time
3-Sometimes
4-Very Rarely/Never
More on the reasoning behind this later, I just wanted to get it posted early before I get busy at work so I can get some replies to it.
sox311 Wed, February 16th, 2005, 10:31 AM I forgot to answer my own question!
4-Very rarely/never

Mine I have to say is more (2) mind you I haven't long started again :db:
rtestes Wed, February 16th, 2005, 01:29 PM 4. very rarely.
It is mainly a new exercise thing.
Monkey Wed, February 16th, 2005, 01:36 PM I do Max-OT and I feel it in every muscle group I work for 2 days afterwards. Always. That's just me though.
PeteBDawg Wed, February 16th, 2005, 01:55 PM 3- Sometimes - Usually when I try a new exercise for the first few times.
(You could have made this a poll, and it would have tabulated the results automatically instead of your having to read through the whole thing and tabulate it yourself.)
Kino Wed, February 16th, 2005, 01:57 PM 2 But I don't use any set routine and change my exercises constantly. Contrary to what everybody says as far as "not getting DOMS meaning nothing"...I'm dissapointed if I don't. :(
btimby Wed, February 16th, 2005, 02:14 PM I do Max-OT and I feel it in every muscle group I work for 2 days afterwards. Always. That's just me though.
I concur. Right now, my hammies, chest, forearms quads and glutes are sore, my last two workouts were legs and chest + forearms.
supirman Wed, February 16th, 2005, 02:22 PM Depends on the muscle being worked. Chest - every time. Legs - occasional. Triceps are common. Everything else is nearly never.
kmfisher Wed, February 16th, 2005, 02:28 PM I vote for 2.
I feel that you should get a slight bit of DOMS a couple days after every workout. Not enough to be debilitating to your daily life, but a little sore to the touch is okay.
I am disappointed if I don't because that means that I didn't put enough effort into my workout.
I'm only extremely sore a couple days after I first start a workout. After a couple weeks, its minor but its there.
badgolfer Wed, February 16th, 2005, 02:30 PM 4
hardly ever. usually only after starting up after a layoff.
JoeSchmo Wed, February 16th, 2005, 02:39 PM I'm pretty much identical to supirman -- chest gets sore every single time. Tris about half the time, and legs about half the time.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, my lats and rear delts get sore quite often too.
fluke Wed, February 16th, 2005, 02:58 PM 4-Very rarely/never
But sometimes I supprise myself.
chicanerous Wed, February 16th, 2005, 03:34 PM 3-Sometimes
Lats and legs most often, then triceps and chest, and finally shoulders and abs. My biceps and lower back never really get sore.
NEdge Wed, February 16th, 2005, 04:52 PM 4
I changed my routine last night, busted my fucking ass - had trouble washing my hair in the shower my arms were so weak.
Consumed just over 5x bodyweight in calories afterwards. - PWO shake + meal.
This morning - nothing! It might come on tonight or tomorrow, but either way is not going to be bad.
Fluogen Wed, February 16th, 2005, 05:00 PM 2
Except for my back. Very rarely to I feel soreness in my back. Everything else is usually sore for at least a day. It is especially bad after a routine switch which for me is coming soon.
d-andy Wed, February 16th, 2005, 05:20 PM Tris - always, chest - sometimes, legs, shoulders- rarely, abs - sometimes (mild), back - never
Worse when I try something different.
I get DOMS the second day, and as others have stated before - I'm disappointed if I don't get them, as it feels like I've cheated on intensity.
Yips Wed, February 16th, 2005, 05:31 PM I do Max-OT and I feel it in every muscle group I work for 2 days afterwards. Always. That's just me though.
Ditto. Especially in my chest, legs, tri's and lats. Though I never feel doms in my shoulders at all.
Skoorb Wed, February 16th, 2005, 05:41 PM 3 - I'm going to average with a "sometimes". Really though I get a sore chest _every time_ I work it. Sore biceps infrequently. Sore triceps quite often. Sore shoulders basically never. Sore ass at least half the time from squats. For me it depends on the muscle group.
Destiny Wed, February 16th, 2005, 10:52 PM 1. Always, every part of my body for two days. :(
seth Wed, February 16th, 2005, 11:19 PM 2 most times
steven Thu, February 17th, 2005, 05:39 AM in between 2 and 3 i have to say.
my lats never used to hurt until i did close grip pull downs then BANG hurt like hell the next day haha
Chris Thu, February 17th, 2005, 11:41 AM 3-Sometimes
Every 6 weeks when I change up my routine, that first week or so i'll get some soreness, but after that, almost never...
