View Full Version : Cardio is Fun????

I hated cardio... more than a little kid hates spinach! I would get on a kick to do it every once in a while for about 20 minutes at a time, but it wouldn't last long. I knew I needed to make the treadmill less boring so I could stick with it... I am sick of being 17-20% fat.
So this week I put the treadmill infront of the playstation! It is so fun, I wake up at 4 in the morning to do it! One game of madden takes about 50 minutes to play and I don't even feel like I am on the treadmill. 4 miles an hour is comfortable. I think I could play 3 games.. but waking up at 2:30 doesn't sound like a good idea ;) The only problem is when I have to take a 7-step drop.. I drift towards the back of the treadmill :D
Just thought I would throw this idea out for young cardio haters.

I put the treadmill on 8mph so i'm not sure it i'd be able to pull that move off  I do watch tv though and that seems to make the time fly by, but after 20 minutes or so I fell like stopping so i have to turn the mp3 player on to keep me motivated.

I watch Sportscenter at the gym while alternating between the ellyptical machine and the recumbant bike. Watching sports highlights keeps me occupied for an hour.

What a great idea!! I usually just listen to the radio. It's just fine while the music is on, I can concentrate on that. But, morning radio has huge gaps between music with local DJ's that think way too highly of their own abilities to entertain their audience.

I'm not sure I could do playstation and NordicTrack at the same time, but I might give it a try.

Me too. As a former runner, I like cardio and running outdoors. But running indoors (bad weather) bores the hell out of me. Sportscenter at the gym or my ipod while runnng or biking is the only thing that keeps me sane during indoor cardio.

My dog wouldn't let me get away with running on a treadmill at home. We go bright and early around the track. She gets a better workout then I do...

I tried running with my puppy once. She's a Pembroke Welsh Corgi and has legs about 4" long. Even when I was my most out of shape, she just couldn't keep up.

The intense HIIT stuff, I am listening to music on my MP3 player, and concentrating very hard on getting to my next interval. If it is the slow, fat burning stuff, I still like to listen to music, but also like to read magazines... Fitness oriented, or stuff like People... :D

When I used to walk on my tredmill, I would play my gameboy.. It was fun.. but then got boring, I guess I liked to sit and play my games than to walk and play. When I used to walk on my tredmill alot, putting on an mp3 player and going into your own world is the thing I liked to do. I could stare at a wall for hours.(max was about 4 hours)

You guys are gonna think I'm crazy, but I love to listen to sermons or debates or lectures when I work out. On weightlifting days I usually listen to John Piper sermons, and on cardio days I listen to one of those college level course - on - CDs about Relativity and Quantum Physics (all of which I load onto my iPod) I know...I'm a nerd. At least I'm getting smarter. :p

EDIT: Just realized this is post 100. Yay! :tucool:
