MAX-OT says you should aim for a weight you can do between 4-6 reps at.

My problem is, for many of the lifts i can do say 6 reps first set, then 4, then 2 or 3.

I'm using the full 3 minutes sometimes for resting time but still i don't seem to have the recovery to go again.

What i've been doing is aiming for 6-8 on the first set, knowing it'll leave me in the 4-5 range for the last set.

would you recomend using even longer rests? still aim for 6 om first and live with the fact i might be at 2-3 reps by the end? or go with what i've been doing and aim slightly higher for the first set.

This only seems to be certain exercises, the compound ones are no problem.

it seems to me the point is to be as recovered as you can be.

for me, it takes 2 mins... granted on things like dead lifts and squats, its sometimes three..

i would wait 3-4 min, so how that works for you.. you want MAXIMUM overload.. and if you need a bit more rest, i think its well worth it
