I was looking through the forum trying to find the post for a workout that went something like this:
(initial phase)
100 crunches
50 push ups
30 pull ups
100 Hindu squats

I have been unable to find it so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. :d_smile:

It seems interesting and I'm getting pretty bored with just lifting weights. I think I'll give it a try, is it worth the sweat and tears? I mean, 100 situps? 50 pushups? Man, but I'll try it anyway...

I've done the first phase and it has worked really well, especally in the ab dept. Athletic look, and it's great feeling just using your body and body weight. I feel more fit and in more control of my body (if that makes any sense). I going to keep going with the program (hence the post). If, however, you're doing it for mass/ size gains or specific strength gains I wouldn't recommend it.

I've been doing a bodyweight-only routine for some time now, and I really like it. It does wonders for your endurance and tone. I'm more defined, my bodyfat has gone down, and my metablism has gone up.You won't get extremely strong or big doing it, but I feel more in shape than I ever did when I was weight training. Plus, its a great feeling to be cranking out 20 more pullups than the guy next to you who benches 300.

I imagine that between the phases you add more reps gradually? 30 pullups to 65 pullups straight jump seems quite extreme.

Nah, I cant do 65 pullups straight. I wish! I do a different routine from the one in you're talking about, but it's strictly bodyweight. I do pyramid sets, 1-2-3-4-3-2-1 ect, and I do it for everything from dips to pushups, with 15 seconds of rest between each set and each exercise. Its been working pretty well, and when you add it all up, I do about 110 pullups, 220 pushups, and 60 dips.

I'm still working on getting 30 pullups. I started all of Tuesday (the 8th) morning, and had a bit of trouble getting them all with ease. Today I managed to nearly get six complete sets of five. Maybe by next week, I'll be getting five sets of six without any swinging.

When I'm supposed to do sixty-five, I'll just shrug and do more sets. Maybe it's that "determination" thing.

Hmmm pyramid sets up to 8 and down make 64 pull ups. I might try that today.

Let me know how that works out. Also, do you know of any bodyweight exercises besides the usuals? I'm looking to put something new into my routine, and I can't really find any good exercises other than the basics.

Well theres about 100 different varieties of pushups. My favourite are handstand pushups, fingertip pushups on 3 fingers, and hindu pushups.
Holding handstands is quite a good workout.

If you have a chinup bar, theres lots you can do, slow leg raises, or slowly bring your knees to your chest, down, then repeat.

As a martial artist, practicing high kicks slowly really builds up the sides of the legs and obliques. Side leg raises would suffice.
Nothing quite as satisfying as the burn after 50 head height side kicks performed slowly.

Hindu pushups? How do those work? And I have a chinup bar, but I mainly use it for pullups, as I havent worked my abs specifically in a long time. Not good, I know.

What kind of martial arts do you do? Slow kicks are good, but personally, I prefer to do them fast as I can while still keeping form, so I can get my heart racing. To build up my legs, I skip almost everywhere I go. It looks a little weird, but it works.

I do taekwondo, so to get my heart racing, its continuous jumping back kicks, or continuous roundhouse kicks, or continuous reverse hook kicks...

I'm currently on 2x 55 pushups, 55 situps, 55 hindu squats. I'm going to increase that by 1 every day, and supplement that with dumbell curling, chinups and situps, my standard taekwondo kick and flexibility training and handstand pushups.

I use both palm down (pullups) and palm up (chinups)

I can't do finger tip pushups with my arms quite that extended, I keep my hands about chest level, I do do them on 2-3 fingers of each hand though.

Hindu pushups are are currently owning my shoulders. Theres a deep burning like nothing else.

Just a doubt here!

In the program it sais Mon-Fri and then Sat-Sun.

Does that mean than you have to do the exercises everyday? I mean, what about rest and allowing each body part at least 48 hours of rest after a workout?

I think the program is interesting as I will soon have to move and have a schedule where my access is to a gym will not be everyday. If anyone has other comments or experience with this program please post!

Have a nice day.

I've always done bodyweight exercises daily, especially those with high reps. When I do 4 sets of 15 handstand pushups, I do feel as if I should rest the next day though... I think its the aching that tells me that.

Lately, I seldomly go to the gym, but I have a pair of dumbell at home. So in oder to keep training, I focus more on bodyweight exercise and a few dumbell exercise. I may not be as strong as you guys, but bodyweight exercise is a great alternative :tu:
Fingertip pushups? Gee, that look extremly strong! I bet I'll surprise people watching if I could do that
