I've told my story previously. I'll just quickly reiterate. I'm 41 years old and 6 ft. in height. 22 months ago I weighed 242 lbs with BF at 35% and a 38 in. waist. Today, I weigh 180 lbs with BF at 12% and a 31 in. waist.

I just had a physical, including a blood draw. My lipid levels are the best ever and without taking cholesterol lowering medication:

Total Cholesterol - 117
LDL - 69
HDL - 35 (I still need some improvement here)
Cholesterol/HDL Ratio - 3.3
Triglycerides - 63

Two years ago (taking cholesterol lowering medication - 40 mg Lipitor):

Total Cholesterol - 190
LDL - 115
HDL - 29
Cholesterol/HDL Ratio - 6.5
Triglycerides - 207

My blood pressure is also the best ever at 120/60!

8 years ago (prior to taking cholesterol medication) my total cholesterol was 300+ and triclycerides were around 270, if I recall correctly. I can't recall what LDL, HDL were; however, not very good, though.

It's so nice not to have to take cholesterol and blood pressure medication anymore. My doctor is thrilled and says he wishes all his patients were doing what I'm doing. That is very motivating to me! Anyway, I just wanted to share my progress.

Impressive numbers; Congrats. Keep it going. Reading postings like this really motivates me. I am also 41 years and my HDL is 39 and my LDL is 112. Hopefully the cardio i ma doing will increase my HDL when I do the blood test in April

Actually, I usually consume a couple tablespoons of olive oil per day. Usually, I just pour the olive oil over veggies. Ocassionally, I will eat a slice of whole wheat bread...dipping it in the olive oil.

I also consume 1/4 cup of nuts a day...usually walnuts (high in the Omega 3s), my favorite, but I also subsitute the walnuts with almonds, another favorite of mine. Of course, the olive oil and nuts add up to about 440 calories...so a person does have to be aware of the caloric content even though these are great heart-healthy foods.

I also consume salmon at least 3 meals a week. I believe all of these food items has definately helped out with my good lipid levels, but I guess there is always room for improvement.
