Underhand brings biceps more into play.

While we're on the topic, what's a chin-up and how does it differ from a pull-up?

they only differ by their grip.. pullup = overhand grip, and chinups = underhand grip. Nothing more. As rtestes said though, chinups are more focused on biceps, than lats.

What about wide grip vs. narrow grip? What muscles are worked most for each?

The wide grip prevents a full range of movement for the lats, same with other lat exercises. So go narrow or shoulder width for chins, rows, pulldowns and bench press, too.

Hehe...Thanks for asking that, guava. I was wondering about that, too!

I don't find the wide grip restricts my range of motion, if anything it isolates the lats. I use a grip thats 5 inches wider than my shoulder. If i keep my hands together i can do way more and i find i don't feel it in my back.
