So i have this weird problem, if i put my feet up on a desk or if i bend my arms a certain way or keep them elevated for too long, i start to go numb pretty quickly - pins and needles in my hands or feet until i straighten out my arms or put them down.

I went to a doctor once about it and he had me turn my head in different directions while he measured the pulse in my wrists and sure enough, when i turned my head certain ways, he would pretty much lose the pulse. He gave me a stretch to try and fix it, but I dont think it is.

What do you guys think could be causing this. Do i need to stretch more? Is there anything else i can do? It's starting to really bug me

Thanks

There are some places where nerves and blood can be pinched in the head and neck area. Stretching, physical Therapy, massage, etc. are some of the possible perscriptions.

Your post leaves me wondering...

#1 How big a problem is this? If your feet go numb when you put them on the desk...just don't do that. Does this numbness prevent you from doing work, weight lifting, etc.?

#2 Why do you think your Dr. is wrong? If you don't trust your Dr. --figure out why OR get a new Dr. OR both.

its not that i dont trust my dr, its just that it hasnt been getting better and its getting worse

it does not prevent me from doing anything besides from being really annoying, but it makes me wonder if nerves are getting pinched that could mess me up later?

Are you still experiencing this? It's something that's bothered me for quite some time. I don't remember it as a kid, but ever since college days when I've been working out I get numbness in my right arm and left foot.

It used to take 45 mins or more to kick in when I was say, riding the bike or using the elliptical. Lately though, it's been kicking in within minutes... and it's very annoying trying to concentrate on my workout with pins and needles running down the inside of my arm and over half of my left foot.

I wonder if there is anything that can be done about it. :|
