TheLemonSong Sun, February 6th, 2005, 11:32 PM so many students on here, what are you studying im going to be utterly unemployable with my ba in philosophy :tu: My brother is a philosophy graduate student at Univ. of Illinois (those lucky ducks w/ their great basketball!). He plans to be a philosophy professor, and I plan to teach history. Currently I'm finishing my BA in modern American history from Indiana University and next fall I'll be attending a graduate school to study the social culture of the 1980s and 1990s!!! marcus Sun, February 6th, 2005, 11:43 PM I'm halfway through a degree in Development Studies. Development in the sense of developing communities (and ultimately whole populations) from politcal, economic and environmental perspectives, with the aim of alleviating poverty, disease, oppression etc. I hope to then undertake some further study, encorporating Anthropology, Economics and Politics. But at the moment they are just general ideas. I'm currently enjoying what I'm studying and I'll see where it takes me. Emilio Mon, February 7th, 2005, 12:37 AM Packaging Science at RIT... supirman Mon, February 7th, 2005, 05:17 AM Under grad major: electrical/computer engineering and took all of thecore computer science classes. I basically doubled, but didn'tfulfill all the stupid 'arts and sciences' requires required forcsci. There was no way I was taking history, language, etc. Current graduate (masters) work: electrical/computer engineering. Only 2 quarters left and then I'm DONE with school! Proctorjc Mon, February 7th, 2005, 11:17 AM Currently: double major: Spanish and Secondary Education. But who knows what tomorrow brings. slush_puppy Mon, February 7th, 2005, 11:26 AM BS + MS in computer science, graduated 10 years ago. Goin' back for more this fall :D NME Mon, February 7th, 2005, 12:56 PM Business Information Systems. I'll earn my BS in just a couple of months. I feel obligated to earn my masters if for no other reason than to advance my career (*ahem* make more money), but I'm not as into computers as my major would imply. So my graduate degree is up in the air for the time being. PeteBDawg Mon, February 7th, 2005, 01:04 PM I've got a BA in English Currently studying for GMATs badgolfer Mon, February 7th, 2005, 03:09 PM architecture working on masters part time while working. give me ten more years. rubberbandman Mon, February 7th, 2005, 04:05 PM seems like there are more math/science types on here than humanities types. I wonder if people interested in the hard sciences are more likely to be interested in fitness due to the large biological aspect of it? Then again, maybe math/science types are more likely to be proud of their major because it sounds smart! (not that it IS any more difficult mind you...I'm not trying to start an argument here). supirman Mon, February 7th, 2005, 07:59 PM Then again, maybe math/science types are more likely to be proud oftheir major because it sounds smart! Does that include things like paranormal psy? i've always wanted to do some reading on that (although i think most of that is more spiritual then psychological) PeterY Mon, February 14th, 2005, 02:17 AM Industrial Engineering @ Cornell University janehanne Mon, February 14th, 2005, 08:34 AM Thats cool! Does that include things like paranormal psy? i've always wanted to do some reading on that (although i think most of that is more spiritual then psychological) LOL. No paranormal psychology for me. I don't believe in it and past research has not been able to provide evidence for it. Basically because it's difficult to test. How the heck does someone set up an experiment to test communication with the dead? As you said, I think most psychologists agree that paranormal phenomena is something that people take on faith, similar to spiritual beliefs. My specialty is in measurement, such as developing survey items to assess job satisfaction, work motivation, and personality. Not as seductive as paranormal psychology, but the work is steadier!
