View Full Version : Making frozen protein shake?
slk41 Thu, January 27th, 2005, 09:41 AM I couldn't find anything about this so I thought I'd ask - hope it wasn't hidden in a thread I missed. :(
Can you freeze a protein shake? I am missing ice cream during the week something terrible and I wondered if I soft froze a chocolate protein shake if it would hold up okay. It's okay if it's like yogurt that you freeze yourself - I love that, so I am thinking it will be that consistency??? Just wondered if anyone had tried it.

it won't be completely frozen, but add a bunch of ice to the belnder with milk and the protein powder, maybe a little splenda. blend until smooth and it is like a malt.
rubberbandman Sun, January 30th, 2005, 01:54 PM wow, damn good idea. Can't believe I never tried that. Too bad my freezer is packed with vegetables and meats...guess I'll just have to "make room". time to cook!

Kino Sun, January 30th, 2005, 07:26 PM When I'm at home I'll often mix up my shake, and throw it in the freezer for a while. (upto 45 minutes) The liquid that directly in contact with the shaker freezes up first, so I keep shaking it and throwing it back in the freezer. All of the liquid that was frozen on the side of the shaker gets mixed in with the rest each time it gets shaken up, and helps the whole shake to get colder. I've had many Muscle Milkshakes this way, and since I'm not adding ice, the shake doesn't get watered down. :tu:
Boxer-in-training Mon, January 31st, 2005, 04:36 PM One of my favorite, almost frozen treats is 1 c. of skim milk, 1 scoop of protein, 3 Tbsp. of Carnation malted milk and 10 ice cubes. Then I just blend it until the ice is all crushed. Very filling and very thick.

Yeah I would totally agree with that. Everyday I have a protein shake with a banana, strawberries, some orange juice, and some plain vanilla yogurt for consistency. Even if I forget the ice cubes it is nice and thick and delicious-better than anything I ever thought i could make. And I never measure anything except for the whey and glutamine powder-they always turn out well, and its basiacally throwing everyday healthy foods into a blender! Sometimes I throw in blueerries or raspberries, or the frozen fruit medley mix. ITs always nice to reward yourself after a tough workout with a tasty thick shake!
