View Full Version : Sweating a lot
steve001 Wed, January 26th, 2005, 06:07 PM I just started a program and I sweat like a pig doing cardio and some weights.
Just wondering how the sweatting coincides with weight loss. Is it a good thing/bad thing. How does it affect my weight loss and will it reside over time?
PeteBDawg Wed, January 26th, 2005, 06:12 PM I don't think it affects it one way or the other.
Dorvaan Wed, January 26th, 2005, 06:18 PM The irony here is that pigs don't actually sweat. That's why they roll in mud/water/any other liquid. This is the only way they can keep cool :tu:
That's your bit of useless information for the day.

nzimogen Wed, January 26th, 2005, 06:20 PM As a girl, it's pretty embarassing admitting this, but I sweat a lot. Strangely enough, the main amount of sweating comes from my face which will also turn BRIGHT red. :o
I don't think sweating effects your fat burning capacity, but it definately causes water loss. So make sure you replace what you lose with lots of water after your done.
webalienz Wed, January 26th, 2005, 06:26 PM When I'm doing my 40-60 minutes of cardio on the treadmill (while keeping my heart rate in its target zone), I'll sooner or later get "ring around the collar" Even though I have a towel and am constantly wiping sweat off of my face, I get a lot off of my neck as well, and my lower back. Right now, I'm considering an okay/good thing because I'm losing weight while adding some nice lean muscle.
don_1987 Wed, January 26th, 2005, 11:42 PM Sweating can make look like you've lost weight when you step on the scale... Unfortunately, it is just water weight and you will regain it all back once you've drink the sufficient amount of water. It is also crucial for you to replace the water you've just sweated, or you'll result in dehydration... not a good thing...
RM. Andersson Thu, January 27th, 2005, 11:22 AM I think it often depends on genetics. Some people sweat alot regardless how fit they are. Regardless if they are overweight or not.
I dont think itīs negative in any way really. You only need to drink a bit more.
Regards!
Chameleon Thu, January 27th, 2005, 12:40 PM I consider sweat to be my 'marker' that I'm working hard enough during cardio... if I'm below my target heart rate I won't sweat as much... if I am at or above my target heart rate I sweat ;-)
oh and I don't give a darn about sweating as a girl... if ya don't like how I smell.. well.. tough ;-)~ hehe
steve001 Thu, January 27th, 2005, 08:11 PM I did my cardio by the fan today, didn't sweat nearly as much. I think my body just heats pretty quickly.
