Well, at this point I have posted a bit in here, but I’m still relatively new , so I thought I’d introduce myself and my goals to the group in general. I don’t come here totally unprepared as I’m married to Bluestreak and I’ve been training (a bit off and on) for the past 5 years or so, give or take a year or two before that when I would occasionally train at the UCF (University of Central Florida) gym and occasionally play racquetball. In September 2003 I competed in a figure competition. I was down to around 125lbs and 15% body fat. I suppose I should tell you that I’m only 5’ 2 ½”, relatively short. I didn’t place, but the feeling of accomplishment that came along with feeling as though I actually belonged on that stage was immense. Unfortunately I let it all go to pot within a month. The diet had been so severely limited (no dairy, no sugar, no fruit [due to the natural sugar]) that as soon as the competition was over, that night, Blue and I went with some friends to IHOP and had a very carb heavy meal. The night after the competition was my birthday and my best friends took Blue and I to the Cheesecake Factory, where I once again ate a very large, very carb heavy, meal. The following night Blue took me to Bennigan’s for my favorite sandwich the Turkey O’Tool (very carb heavy) because he wanted to take me out for my birthday alone (just the two of us). Well you can just imagine how badly I let those first meals steamroll into more and more and more. I swear that I gained back all my weight within two or three weeks. I have yet to fully recover. I blame part of it on pulling my shoulder (rotator cuff impingement) in yoga (pushing myself into a position – exactly what you’re NOT supposed to do). I also had surgery on my wrist (in July 2004) to remove a ganglion cyst that had been there for 4 years. The cyst had prevented me from doing a lot of positions in yoga as well as not being able to do push ups. Now, I’m healed, the wrist pain is almost completely gone, the shoulder is healed and I’m GOING to lose the weight again and compete in another figure competition this year. But I’m not going to go back to the same diet, hell I can’t get a hold of my old trainer anyway. So I’m calling Eric Shrives (who started Blue and I down the right path 5 years ago) and I WILL be making positive gains. Right now I’m at 142 lbs and I’m not sure how high my body fat has gotten but I’m pretty sure it’s at least 30% :d_frown:

Originally (spring/summer 2003) I had been 140 lbs and 25 or 26% body fat and I got down to 125 lbs and 15% (the end of September 2003). I want to get to at least 18% body fat so that I can work from there and get down to 14% - 15% body fat as competitions get close. THIS time I plan to maintain the 18% during the off season so that I never have to do this drastic weight loss thing again ;-)~

Ah, worry not, my queen. Ye shall triumph yet again. Just call Eric again if he doesn't call back by the end of the day.

Hi Chameleon GOOD LUCK! I know you can do it. I broke my collarbone and did something to my rotor cuff as well in Dec 2001. Took my collarbone over a year to heal and I didn't find out about rotor cuff or that I had a disc impinging my spinal cord until a May 2002. I went way down hill after that and never thought that I would ever be in decent shape. With the right attitude and determination I totally blew my doctors out of the water with my progress.

Good luck on your journey!

Pam

P.S hope you don't mind me telling you a bit about myself.

holy moly... I just inputed the diet that Eric Shrives gave me 5 years ago... I can't believe I did that... wwwwwwwwwwwwwwayyy too few calories and not even 1 gram of protien per pound of body weight... this is what his diet came out to:

831 calories, 37.4 g carbs, 112.7 g protien, 22.8 g Fat
at the time I weighed around 135 lbs
also.. he had me doing only one HIIT type 20 minute cardio session in the morning and moderate weights in the evenings.

what I ate today came to:

1684 calories, 132.2 g carbs, 183.5 protien, 27.8 g Fat
I currently weigh 142.5 lbs
I did 45 minutes of cardio on the cross trainer/eliptical this morning and will be doing a 45 minute weight training session tonight (bi's & tri's) and at least 30 minutes of cardio after.

I think that what I'm doing now is much better, especially compared to 831 total calories.. yikes

OMG I have to agree. 831 is starving yourself. Glad to see you have a much better plan for yourself now.
