This may be redundant given all the information available on this forum, but here goes...What would be the FASTEST way for a person to lean out in 1 month with no real regard for losing muscle mass? Would you drop heavy weight training, and double up on cardio with an increase of clean calories per day?

Thanks! :tu:

My husband once managed to drop a whole POUND a day for a month. No kidding. Thirty pounds in a month. It is not easy, but it is possible if you have the time for it. Here's how he did it:

Diet: modified low carb -- think Atkins, but with only clean food (that means plain tuna, chicken breasts, and vegetables - maybe a piece of toast somewhere in there)

Exercise: 6 hours per day - low intensity interspersed with high intensity (jogging, running, boxing against a bag)

He actually didn't seem to lose muscle mass. He was ripped when it was over. He calls this routine, which he has no desire to ever do again, The Fury.

It's hell, but it really works.

Hi!

Thanks, and WOW! That sounds nutty! I eat like that anyway..BOOORING..hahaha! I can handle the workout as well...plenty of time on my hands. I'm auditioning for a TV show on Feb. 20th, so I need to drop some fat fast! I was concerned because my caloric intake is pretty low..around 1600 a day. and I didn't want my metabolism to slow down any more than it is...mine is like a turtle...lol

I do HIIT 4 days a week..I just started training twice a week with my Jiu-jitsu club again (my own private hell..lol)
Should I lay off hitting the weights so hard?
My Bodyfat is around 24% ( a guesstimate)

Why would your husband do that to himself?

:) cheers!

I found out that a salmon diet I made up with 1 hour of cardio yields 3 pounds gone the next day but I don't know if it is water or what. I haven't really done it for more than one day becasue it gets so boring and I get off track. I will probably experiment this coming week or the following week and see what kinda results I get.

Crash diets are a BAD idea.

Slows metabolism, catabolizes lean muscle tissue, fat is the last to go (lean mass and water first), etc.

Then once you begin eating normal again, you blow up like the World Trade Center.

Then you REALLY have issues.

Pffft....what do YOU know?

Hehe...seriously though I gotta agree with Swole. Even if you were to survive and succeed this crazy plan, it could never stay with you for the long term.

Your age will also be a factor.

Why not make a more realistic goal, and plan to lose 10 lbs in a month? Even then, you'd be losing a good portion of lean body mass...but it would be a tremedous transformation if you are willing to keep your diet in check and do a solid 6 days of cardio. Maybe some light weight training to preserve muscle without making gains.

The REAL challenge after that would be to maintain.

Personally, I remember working my ass off from late January to May of last year and shedding 30lbs and even then I lost some muscle.

Put the time in, and adapt the lifestyle. Your body WILL thank you for it and you'll be able to do so much more down the road.

Swole's right and ^^u are right too. A lifestyle change is in need but for someone who is pushing 250, I need it to come off in a somewhat speedy manner. BTW im 22.

:( Sorry to splash cold water on you, but this simply will not happen.

If you your goal is to take a lot of weight off (fat AND muscle) over a short term and gain it back again (and then some), then this is the route to go (piles of cardio with clean eating, thus starving your body of nutrients it needs).

Is it a health-related reason you need the weight to come off so quickly? In that case, I suggest you talk to your doctor.

I remember when my dad found out he was diabetic, he had to go on a crazy low-cal diet and do exercise to SAVE HIS LIFE. He did drop the weight, but he felt crappy for months afterwards. He was also not someone you wanted to be around during that time. He was miserable. Luckily he was able to adapt a cleaner lifestyle afterwards and after about a year his body was pretty stable.

Hope this helps!

No real medical reason right now, but it could casue problems in the future so I was fixing this problem now then later.

Thanks for the reponse!
I really didn't have a "Goal" for a month..(lose 30 pounds,etc...) I think what I was trying to get out of the question was, should I do more cardio, and do less heavy lifting (I do a 3 day MAX-OT split) in order to lean out the quickest? I eat 6 clean meals a day anyway...zig-zag calories...bla,bla...maybe it was just a stupid question... :p !

You guys rock :tucool:
