View Full Version : Protein/fat meal. do you add vegies?
champien speller Mon, January 24th, 2005, 08:16 PM Hi all,
I am a bit confused about the protein and fat meals. do you guys have them with vegies and if so do you count the carbs in the vegies too?
also what type of vegies are good to have during a protein and fat meal?
last question, do you feel a bit wierd having only protein and fat for breakfeast? I always have oats and I love them and i think i need the energy they provide me in the morning. I am cutting now and i was thinking of doing morning cardion and having a Protein fat meal, followed by a protein carb meal with the rest protein fats until my PWO meal.
thanks
supirman Mon, January 24th, 2005, 08:19 PM The fat serves as your energy source. I don't find it odd at all only having fat/pro meals. I don't add any veggies.
Breakfast = bacon and eggs.
taffer Mon, January 24th, 2005, 08:29 PM why are you starting your day with just protein and fats?
the best start to the day is a mix between all the macronutrients, protein, carbs and fat... this will give you tons of energy, and fill you up so you dont crave later in the day!
Strapped Mon, January 24th, 2005, 08:33 PM I've frequently added fibrious veggies to my pro/fat meals since the net carbs found in veggies is virtually zero.
Example: Sirloin and Broccoli
That's just me though, I'm curious to see other people's takes on this.
supirman Mon, January 24th, 2005, 09:44 PM I'm filled up just fine on bacon and eggs, plus after doing my cardio(and having the proper fats in my diet) I stay energized all day.
Having the carbs would screw up my diet :p

supirman Mon, January 24th, 2005, 09:45 PM I don't eat fibrous carbs b/c I'm lazy. That, plus I don't like them...
champien speller Mon, January 24th, 2005, 10:20 PM I was lazy too with my vegies, until i got an anal fissure the size of the grand canyon and it took 2 operations and 9months to properly heal. the pain from this sucker ruins your life. you are basically in tremendous pain (worse than a broken rib) for upto 12hours after a bowel movement and you can forget about sitting for more than 5 seconds let alone lifting. so a word from the not so wise, get that fibre into you!
since then i have been trying to get at least 40 grams of fibre a day. the protein and the fats is not going to get me near that so i like to eat vegies.
Looking at some of the diet that get you ripped sort of resemble atkins + a pwo shake thrown in. does anyone else get this feeling?
and back to my original point. i wanted to know about the Protein fats and vegies as i am going to do fasted cardio in the mornings and i wanted to know when to have a protein carbs meal. some people say not until after your PWO shake in the evening after your lifting. that is along time in the day without any carbs.
Strapped Mon, January 24th, 2005, 10:26 PM No really it isn't a long time without carbs if you eat the correct types of fats to give you energy. I used to think the same thing until I just tried it.
Atkins tries to put people in a ketogenic state, the diets we have listed and discussed vary greatly from that.
