View Full Version : 24...225 lbs...wanna get to 160-170..anyone? ScotianJohnny Sun, January 23rd, 2005, 07:27 PM Hey eyeless Thu, January 27th, 2005, 05:47 PM we'll im 21 about 6'0 and 220 , im down to get into shape Dorvaan Thu, January 27th, 2005, 06:10 PM I'm in on this!! You sound like you must be my twin. I am 24, 5'10, and this morning was my current lowest weight of 223.5 pounds. I did a 3-site body fat calculation this morning and came up with 29.5%. I'll definitely step up to the plate!! Hey im Johnny Im just wondering if theres anyone who wants to track progress together. Im almost 24, 225 lbs..and I estimate that im around 30 %bf.. im 5'11. Id like to get my %bf down to 10 % or so and then start bulking. Anyway..Im just wondering if there is anyone out there in a similar situation with similar goals who'd like to keep track of progress together and motivate eachother.. :) vatechguy Fri, January 28th, 2005, 01:11 PM Well.. my story started about 16 months ago - when I hit my all time low (high?) of 308 lbs. (at 6' 2) Sheesh - what a fat loser. But you know - when you creep up past 20 % BF - you stop looking in mirrors and never seem to notice you're buying bigger and bigger pants sizes. When I reached for the 44s one day and they felt a little snug - I finally woke up and realized there was a problem. So 12 months later I was proud to say I got down to 225 ! Woot! Of course - then came the holidays and a real lack of motivation. Anyways - just before New Years I stumbled onto a scale and was back up to 240. Sheesh - are you trying to kill yourself again? Anyways - while I didn't make a real resolution to do so - since the beginning of the year I have been getting back into the rythym of things. I'm down to 232 - been re-learning a lot of what I need to be doing - hitting the gym 6 days a week - splitting 3 days of cardio with 3 days of lifting/light cardio. I would like to be back down to 170 - already got the size 34 jeans on - but wouldn't it be phenominal to put on some 32s? (or 30s? WOW!) :bb: :db: eyeless Sat, January 29th, 2005, 02:44 PM we'll if were all doing this my aim sn is deadfuxk and my yahoo sn is tribal_s_knot , any motivation or to chat, hit me up. I will be starting my journey monday. I still need a lil help figuiring out my diet and what i should do. The only cheat day i plan on having is february 23 , my 21 birthday and sorry to say i will be drinking and no more cheat days after that. So i have starting monday, 23 days to bust my ass. Good luck to you all. ScotianJohnny Sat, January 29th, 2005, 10:55 PM awesome guys! eyeless Sat, January 29th, 2005, 11:45 PM i plan on doing weights monday , wednesday & saturday for my afternoon workouts and doing lite weights mon , wed , & saturday morning. I will do cardio tues thurs & sunday mornings and afternoon. I found out for my diet the weight watchers point counting system does really we'll but i will add more vegtables in with my meals. I will post my new stats next sunday night and see how i did in a week. Good luck to the rest of you vatechguy Sun, January 30th, 2005, 10:58 AM What I have been doing is Weights MWF with some HIIT cardio (13 minutes) then on T/TH/Sat doing just the HIIT (25 minutes) - I believe folks refer to it as "fasted" first thing in the morning. The biggest hurdle I think I have finally overcome was eating too little - trying to pack it into 3 meals and fearing the dreaded Carbs. I've been using Eating for Life for most of my eating - and that would appear to be the thing that straightened me out the most. I'm averaging between 1500 and 1700 calories every day - and I'm down a full 10 pounds the past two weeks since I got started. I had one cheat meal on the 25th - wife's birthday - but I didn't go overboard - had a actual serving size of cake (1/12 - jesus thats small - of a round 1 layer cake) and doubled up on a portion of dinner. The six meals a day thing has helped me more than anything - I actually find myself around that 2.5 hour mark thinking to myself "You're forgetting to do something . . . . . oh yeah! Time to eat again!" My IM and whatnot is in my profile. :gl: eyeless Sun, January 30th, 2005, 12:18 PM what is your diet ? i got a good ideal of what im going to do but it would help to see what others with about the same stats as me are eating in a day. vatechguy Sun, January 30th, 2005, 09:02 PM Ok - 6 meals - lemme know if I leave anything out of interest. 7am -- Orange Smoothy (28 g Protien powder, FF light orange yogurt) 200cal / 27p/18c/1.5f 9:30 -- FF Cottage Cheese 1/2 cup + FF Light Yogurt 213cal / 24p/26c/0f 12:00 -- Grilled Chick Breast + 2 cups Broccoli 240cal / 35p/4c/6f 2:30 -- FF Cottage Cheese 1/2 cup + FF Light Yogurt + 2 egg whites 180 cal / 17p/25c/0f 5:00 -- Chicken Enchiladas (Eating for Life recipe) (sort of a treat meal) 485 cal / 41p/47c/15f 7:30 -- 1 cup sliced banana + 14g Protein Powder (blender - mmmmm) 249cal / 14p/40c/2f So for the day it looks like this: 1567 calories - 43% Protein 44% carbs 13% fat :eat: (I'm gunning for 40-40-20 and 1500-1700 calories) :eat: vatechguy Mon, January 31st, 2005, 10:04 AM I suck at working out my back. I feel like I am either killing myself or I am lifting no weight - there's no middle ground. Anyone have any tips for Back workouts? Mine seems to suck right now. Frustrating. Anyway - another day at the gym down the hatch - I'll keep doing better tommorrow! :read: eyeless Mon, January 31st, 2005, 09:49 PM we'll after the first day i feel pretty good. Heres what i ate and did for today : 5:30am - 30 min jog 6:10am - 2 1/2c of water 6:15am - 15min on the total gym (a lite work-out to get my muscles going) 6:30am - (breakfast) 3 egg whites w/ mustard and paprika & 1c skim milk 10:00am - (snack) peanut butter sandwich with wheat bread & 2c of water 2:20pm - (lunch) 2 tuna patties made from 2 egg whites & 1 6oz can of tuna with mustard/salt/pepper/paprika & 1c vegatarian baked beans 7:30pm - Chicken breast, A serving of green beans/salad/brown rice & 2c of water 8:00pm - 40min on total gym working on shoulders, arms & back on the hard setting 9:50pm - coffe protein shake I would of added more fruit and vegtables but i couldnt get to the shopping center in time. so tomorrow i will have more choices of what to eat. seoulnewfie Tue, February 1st, 2005, 04:33 AM Hey im Johnny Im just wondering if theres anyone who wants to track progress together. :) I was.... 5'8", 245LBS about 4 1/2 years ago. Don't even want to guess the body fat but it waswell over 30%. I managed to get to 165LBS up to December with training (but no clean diet), last month I cleaned it up and I am 157LBS. IT CAN BE DONE! :gl: vatechguy Tue, February 1st, 2005, 08:04 AM 2:20pm - (lunch) 2 tuna patties made from 2 egg whites & 1 6oz can of tuna with mustard/salt/pepper/paprika Have to ask - is this something you're cooking (grilling maybe?)? This doesn't sound half bad - but I have to ask. :D I'm looking to spiking in some tuna here and there (as its a bit cheaper than the chik breasts all the time). Looks like a pretty clean diet - did you feel hungry much? I've found the 6 meals a day thing is helping me manage virtually no hunger whatsoever - except first thing in the morning after my workout! :claphigh: eyeless Tue, February 1st, 2005, 01:23 PM yeah i grill it on the stove in a non stick pan , It was good. Yeah same here, thats the only time im really hungry is after a jog or today after my weight training in the morning. After dinner last night i was stuffed and i still cant get over that it was healthy. vatechguy Wed, February 2nd, 2005, 08:22 AM I'll probably edit this later - but I am pretty glad with the scale this morning! Down to 229! :jumping: Getting the actual BF measured after work today with the calipers by a professional - my hopes is that is inching down as well - I've only estimated using height/weight up til now. I'll get some pics up tommorrow - you guys planning on doing weekly pics? eyeless Wed, February 2nd, 2005, 04:07 PM If i get the time i will post my pics sunday and every sunday after that. I think it just me and you anyways. vatechguy Wed, February 2nd, 2005, 07:20 PM Well... two is better than none! Well.. I went and got scoped out this afternoon after work. Surely enough my thoughts were confirmed - I've been overestimating my BF %... ready for this? Only 21% !! :claphigh: I know thats still in the overwieght category - and this is no real suprise, but its not anywhere near as bad as I thought it was. I went ahead and picked up a caliper and tested it myself when I got home and based just on the Suprailiac I got the same. I'm gonna keep playing with this thing and see how accuarate I can get with it. vatechguy Thu, February 3rd, 2005, 02:06 PM This is from 236 down to 228 - current BF is 21% (no idea where I started as I was estimating up til yesterday) I'm turned a little wierd in the pics last week - not sure why. Nonetheless, I think I see a little improvement. Maybe? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v720/vatechguy/2005FirstCompare_web.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v720/vatechguy/2005FirstCompare2_web.jpg vatechguy Thu, February 10th, 2005, 10:52 AM Oh well - I guess I'll have to start my own progress log somewhere. Weekly totals - 225 and 20.5% Weights down 3 lbs this morning!! Which is cool because I was getting REALLY frustrated as it didn't look like its been moving all week. Its funny how the weight seems to do that - 7-8 days go by with nothing - then one morning - BAM! You're down 3-4 pounds. As long as it stays down I am a happy camper. I ended up working til midnight last night and slept past my cardio this morning - but I'm not gonna sweat it - the sleep was worth more than the cardio - and I can always run around the yard with the kids today. :tucool: Might post my diet into the nutrition forum and get some folks take on it today - I feel like its enough - but at 225 - everything I am reading is telling me I'm starving myself at 1700 calories. eyeless Mon, February 14th, 2005, 03:23 PM http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/eyetmat/down4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/eyetmat/down41.jpg Did'nt have anyone around to take pics. So far , last week i lost 4 pounds , but i dont know my bf %. Had only 2 cheat days , actually the one i had 4 lite beers. All we'll its still going pretty good, been workin alot longer hours so i really dont have the time to eat the 4 - 5 meals much anymore, but i try. Sorry about not postin for a while been really busy. I will have new pics sunday. wh0rume Mon, February 14th, 2005, 04:03 PM [hey. i was just taking a break from work and somehow got here.] You look about 13-16% bf. vatechguy Mon, February 14th, 2005, 05:12 PM It just dawned on me Eyeless - your birthday is the same as my middle kids (She'll be 4 this year) - the weekend after we're having a party for her - Sunday the 27th will be my cheat (read :  CAKE! Mmmmmmm.....) hehe eyeless Mon, February 14th, 2005, 06:34 PM yeah my b-day will consist of beer and alot of good food. vatechguy Thu, February 17th, 2005, 02:04 PM Current Stats: 225 lbs 19.5% BF 4 weeks and 11 pounds - not great - but I'll take it! I was tooling around the past 4 weeks of pictures getting pretty annoyed that they dont look any different until I flipped up the back shots. I can definately see the love handles taking a beating finally. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v720/vatechguy/4WeeksofBacksweb.jpg eyeless Wed, February 23rd, 2005, 12:04 PM i hav'nt been able to work out for about 6 days now due to this cold, so i dont what im at now, i guess i will have to go by a scale and check. vatechguy Thu, February 24th, 2005, 02:17 PM i hav'nt been able to work out for about 6 days now due to this cold, so i dont what im at now, i guess i will have to go by a scale and check. Hang in there man. Colds are a pain in the a$$. Relax and get rest - your body doesn't need you dragging it down worse than it already is. This week has been a wierd one - scale says I am down to 220 - which is cool :tu: - but the tapes are saying my BF % is the same which worries me a little. Oh well - I doubt I'm doing the BF correctly anyways. I've been using both calipers and a tape and they're both pretty close to 19.5 so I guess whatever I'm doing I'm doing consistently. They offer the Electro shock version of BF % at the Y on the first Wednesday of every month (next wed) so I'll go get that done again. The little electronic doo-hicky said 21% last month - so it'll be interesting to see what it says 4 weeks later. I have my sister asking me for wieght loss advice again - which is cool - she's even been tooling around JSF some - very cool! :claphigh: I took pics - but they're not showing any difference - so I'll spare you the bandwidth. :d_tongue: eyeless Fri, February 25th, 2005, 03:19 AM i will start my diet and exerciseing back up monday and have new pics next sunday , i feel like complete shit so i won't be doing anything this weekend ,except for a run to the bar , had to work on my b-day and didnt get to go out. I bought that tae bo capture the power set cause im tired of running nd want to do some kick boxing type stuff, mix the ole cardio up some. vatechguy Mon, February 28th, 2005, 10:40 AM Well.... so I ate some pizza and some cake at the kids birthday party. Couple of diet pepsi's too. Felt a little bloated late in the day but didn't put much thought into it. Woke up in the middle of the night with a massive belly-ache. I guess my body is trying to tell me I don't need that stuff anymore. Sigh. No noticable weight gain - even water this morning - but boy did I feel sick to my stomach when I woke up. I may have to find a new cheat snack - as the pizza and I may need to part ways once and for all. vatechguy Thu, March 3rd, 2005, 10:45 AM Current Stats: 218 lbs 18% BF (I've started taking a whole number average all 3 BF percentages - the electrical impedence 17.9, the tape 18.8 and the calipers 18.3) 6 weeks and 18 pounds - I think I may be getting the hang of this whole thing for the first time in my life. Glad to see the pizza and cake didn't do any real damage this weekend. Have to remember MODERATION is key on Sunday - my official "reward" meal day from this point forward. [I'm thinking Olive Garden this week... but man I really dig the Salad there and I know that dressing is killer. ] Hope you're feeling better Eyeless! :tucool: eyeless Thu, March 3rd, 2005, 07:26 PM yeah im doing pretty good , been doing cardio every moring but my work schedule is being shitty been pullin 13 hrs everyday so far so i dont get much time to do the 4-5 meals i only been getting breakfast a sanck and then dinner and dont have the energy to cook a good dinner so i just eat the shit thats already made, Chicken / spagetti ..... nothing to fat though. Havent had a hamburger/ any other fat stuff in months so its going pretty good., vatechguy Wed, March 9th, 2005, 06:43 PM Don't know why - just haven't been into my workouts this week. One of my kids are sick - I'll probably be next. Scale shows 217 still - BF 18% holding steady. I've been trying some different stuff with my diet (Protein Shakes instead of Cottage Cheese - basically trying to come up with something easier to tote back and forth to work.) I'm gonna keep what I'm doing for another week - but if the weight doesn't start moving I guess I'm back to cottage cheese again. :d_cool: Anways - heres a 7 week progress shot. The waist is still tapering down - the 34s are getting loose now - and thats a little scary. I did have two semi-cheats this weekend - ended up working late Saturday before what was a planned cheat meal - so I tried to temper myself - only had a couple hush puppies and a slice of lime pie with my chic breast and grilled shrimp. Which of course blew my mindset for Sunday - so when the inlaws had me out of town and the local Chinese place was the only thing happening at noon - well... I believe someone made the point about fried rice - "you might as well inject pure fat into your ass and stomach " (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=13730) Oh well - first real dive off the meal plan - and I'm kind of looking at it like Saturday night was the slip (less severe?). lol - No sense stressing over it. 7 weeks progress: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v720/vatechguy/fa9a2631.jpg eyeless Thu, March 10th, 2005, 09:49 PM we'll i got back from the doctors yesterday and i have strep throat , so no work outs for the next few days , i havnt had a good work out for about 2 1/2 weeks now but when i got weighed at the doctors i was still 217 so i guess thats not bad. vatechguy Fri, March 11th, 2005, 07:10 AM we'll i got back from the doctors yesterday and i have strep throat . Sorry to hear that dude. Getting sick sucks. I've staved off a few cooties this year the kids have brought home - our oldest has some kind of throat croup herself right now (fortunately the Dr said not strep). I let the wife interact with her. lol vatechguy Thu, March 17th, 2005, 11:40 AM Quick update - only down to 214 this week. BF shows as 17.5% - every little bit helps!! ebatch20 Thu, March 17th, 2005, 11:49 AM Still time to get in? Age: 24 HT: 5'-9" WT: 230.6 BF: 30% vatechguy Thu, March 24th, 2005, 08:59 AM Still holding string at 213..... !!! ARGHHH!!! Gotta go drink some water now.... Have a great holiday everyone - I'll be out of it for the next 10 days so keep it up and don't let the holiday candy sit heavy on your stomachs!! Off to sunny Florida.... |
