5g fat. 103g carbs. 39g protine at 653 cal... is this too much for a post work out shake? it is mostly whey protine, dextrose and banana.

does this sound right?

My muscle milk protein shake had similar amounts of nutrients as you mentioned above. I too was interested in knowing if this was good to take after lifting or are there too many calories and too much carbs?

There are at least 5 similar questions right now- there is no one answer. You need to know how much you are supposed to eat each day and plan accordingly. 650 sound more like a meal replacement shake. If it fits into your diet- do it. 650 calories is an average meal to somebody bulking- to a person cutting, it might be a third of their total daily intake.

Hort's right on.... if it fits well into your caloric plan, go for it.

Mind telling us what sources you found to come up with those numbers? There are many opinions out there, and I'm going to be changing my pre- & post-workout shakes & would be interested in what you've found.

the formula i found says .5g carbs and .25g protine per lb.

so for a 200lb person thats 100g carbs(400cal) and 50g protine(200cal)

its totally your choice. If i had to have 1/3 of my entire calories for a single day in my PWO, when i gulp down a shake, well id go crazy. i need some real meals in there. my PWO is 440 cals as it is, any higher and id have to remove a meal from somewhere.
