View Full Version : Any motorcyclists on the forum?
Avanti Sun, January 23rd, 2005, 11:04 AM I've seen a few car threads here but no-one about motorcycles so I thought I'd make one...
My biggest passion is motorcycles and I try to get out on the bike as often as I can. My current bike is a Suzuki GSX-R750 which I bought about a year and a half ago. Before the Suzuki I had a Cagiva Mito 125.
The GSX-R is quite old, a 1988 model, the reason I bought it was that it was my favourite bike when I was a kid. I used to have posters of it on the wall and dreamed of once owning one. So when I finally got my unrestricted "A" license I tracked down the bike of my dreams and we have been unseperable ever since...
I'll probably get other bikes in the future but I will never sell the GSX-R, at 17 years of age it still runs and looks like new. I made a little "tribute" site for my bike too, slingshot.cc (http://www.slingshot.cc).
So, is there any other motorcycle aficionados on the JSF forum?
G_Man Mon, January 24th, 2005, 12:52 PM I used to be a motorcycle enthusiast in a younger life. I rode a 1984 Honda 750 Interceptor that I bought new. This was back in the day when there was a $1000 tariff on large CC imports to help at that time a struggling Harley Davidson Co. It received “Bike of the year” in ’83. I have no need for that much speed anymore, but it sure was fun!
QuikZ06 Mon, January 24th, 2005, 01:37 PM I've been riding for almost 7 years now. This is what sits in my garage. Right next to all my free weights. 1993 ZX-11D World fastest production bike- Till the 1300cc Suzuki came out.http://www.pashnit.com/zx11mods.htm

Thats a really nice bike. You have a great web site too, will spend some hours there, daydreaming. California has always been my dream place to live, hopefully I'll get there one day.

how are insurance prices in the US? I pay $986 per year for my GSX-R, thats just the insurance required by law, not "theft & fire", or anything covering me in case of an accident. I think it is quite expencive..
I know it depends on how old you are and where you live, which bike etc.

"green light"? , "approval"?
edit: isn't that a VTR 1000 SP2? Are they called RVT in the States?

That actually isn't my website. Just the best picture of a 1993 ZX-11 that I have found. As for insurance I pay $386 per year for Liability only. $880 for full coverage.

Oh, but it was a great site anyways. Although I was a bit puzzled by why there was a revolver on the bike seat...
Do you know bikepics.com, its an amazing site with like 250.000 pictures, here is the link to your bike: ZX-11 (http://www.bikepics.com/kawasaki/zzr1100/93/pics.asp).
Liability was the word I was looking for, I think I have to pay close to $1.500 for full coverage. :spaz:

for an '03 suzuki SV650s would be almost $400 per month but that was the full coverage, and since im 18 thats why is so expensive, so i'd rather wait... :d_frown:
Shwinn Sun, February 6th, 2005, 11:54 AM I have a 2001 Kawi 500R. I started riding last season after taking the MSF. I can't wait for spring and start riding again.
I have to buy some more gear too.

But you aren't allowed to ride a SV650 when you are 18 are you? In europe you can only ride bikes with a maximum of 25kw (33hp) at that age. Why don't you get a less powerful/older bike and just pay liability.
My first bike was a Cagiva Mito 125, not very powerful, but a lot of fun..

It was the same way 13 years ago when I bought my first bike. They wanted $3500 a year for insurance on a Katana 600/750. I ended up buying a Ninja 250r which cost $400.00 a year for insurance.
I now have(13 years later) a 2004 Suzuki Marauder.
anYgorHere Wed, March 23rd, 2005, 02:48 PM Pashinit's site's great - I've used his trips as templates for some rides. Haven't hit the ET highway north of Area 51 yet, but I've got it all mapped out. One of these days, when I have a few days off work...
I currently ride 2004 Suzuki Intruder 1400. Mostly stock so far - but that will change. I've got big plans for this bike... I've also a 1978 Suzuki TS185 almost all restored. I've let the registration lapse, so it's just in the garage for now (don't have a way of getting it to the desert yet).
