I'm not sure if this should be here or in Fitness Equipment.

Has anyone else seen this program:

Yourself!Fitness (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/v=glance&s=software&n=507846)
Also at yourselffitness.com (http://www.yourselffitness.com)

It's an XBox/PC program that makes up workouts for you. (That's a huge oversimplification, but check the links to see the details.)

I think it's a neat idea. Certainly a healthy choice as far as games (if you could call this a game) go.

I give them an A for effort and I hope that more fitness companies target video game systems to hit sedentary men and kids. Everytime I hear someone talk about their kids playing Dance Dance Revolution I hope that may be 1 less heart attack victim 40 years from now.

Yeah. Let that be a note to the game designers out there. I think that is a great idea but is really geared toward women. They are missing an entire portion of the fitness market. Maybe a boot camp game, complete with a Hardcore Drill Sargent!

I think you're right that they need a version geared more towards men. Go to their forums, and it looks like men make up a big portion of the people who bought this "game." They (the men) are hoping for a men's version too.

I went ahead and bought it out of curiousity to see if it was any good. Have to say, it's awesome. :) Really keeps you motivated because it knows if you didn't show up for your workout and shames you.

Okay, it doesn't shame you, but you do get a tsk tsk, and it will take away music/scenery selections that you've earned. At least that's what I've read. It's really fun, so I haven't missed a workout yet. (Only been a few days.)

That is so cool, I love it! :tucool:

If I can get Lara Croft as my trainer, I'm preordering my PS2 copy now.

So what's next, body fat calipers with a joystick adapter?

Visual stimulation works! :tu: Seriously, anything that motivates the obese couch potatoes is great. I used to be one. I would love to get involved in marketing and lobbying for fitness aimed at that group.

I just bought it too. I think it is really great :D , even thought I just got it and have hardly used it yet, my first workout was good! I like that she asks you how you cope with the workouts so she can accordingly adjust the level or pace. I was just wondering, do you also use it for your strength training wokouts? I mean do you just use it in addition to your prior weight-lifting routine, or has it replaced it? Have you tried all the workouts?

Upper body strength
lower body strength

As of now I only use Yourself!Fitness and do not do any additional weight lifting. I do 30 minutes 5 times a week. Sometimes I'll also throw in one of those "Meditation Garden" 20 minute yoga workouts or go longer than 30 minutes (usually on the weekend).

I have been using it now for a month and have done all of the different kinds of workouts. I really like it a lot and have not gotten tired of it at all.

Over the last month, I've reduced my body fat and decreased my resting pulse from 78 to 60. Seems to be working.

Glad someone else is trying it out too. :)
