Is it possible to loose 1% of your body fat per week with the proper exercise and diet?

most definatly.

but that depends how much body fat you have, how your diet is constructed and how your exercise/training regiment is laid out.

and in the end, if you follow it or not! i can see someone losing 2% of body fat a week. even more actually..

it's not a race, dont make it one!

dont go by body fat %.. go bye with what you see in the mirror and what you feel!

I have. I've gone from 34% to 29% on my tanita scale over the course of a month. Granted I'm overweight and the beginning is the fastest. Also, I'm not 100% sure its my true BF%, as the scale is not always accurate, but the relative change of 5% holds, as I weigh myself every morning under similar conditions.

I eat only healthy foods, track my calories (10x my body weight), with little cheating, and exercise every day.

You can do it too! :gl:

A bit of information about me:
I'm 33% Body fat, and 238. I bought a new scale and instead of being 223 I'm 238.
I've changed my diet and exercise plan. I'm eating 2000 Calories a day, like for instance today's was: Fat - 35.7., Carbs - 213g, 203.4g.
I know this wouldnt be 100% correct, but it's def. around those numbers.

My lifting is:
Monday: Arms
Tuesday: Legs
Wedensday: Ju Jitsu training (1 hour)
Thursday: Back
Friday: Chest and Shoulders
Saturday: Cardio
Sunday: Rest, or Cardio depending on how I'm feeling.

I will be cheating once a week with Alcohol or a meal.
My cardio is 30 minutes medium intensity, it's not a suitable bike for HIIT (It doesnt use a chain so it gets stiff, I'll be doing HIIT within 2 months when I buy a new one).

So this would be possible then?

I have a few reasons.
I want to look better obviously. I don't have any goals yet to go as far as seeing Abs but that will come in future. I want to go to shed 48 pounds. But I also want much better fitness, since I will be going for Black Belt soon.

Your body weight, etc is very similar to mine when I started a month ago. For my lifestyle, I do cardio four days and lift 3 days a week. I don't know much about jiujitsu and the weight training necessary for it, but at this stage, cardio and diet will help you more than weight training for fat loss. That is, I would try to have more days of cardio than weight training days. I would also try to take in at least 10x your weight in calories, especially if you are active everyday and lifting weights. As hard as I try, eating clean foods its a stretch for me to get 2100 calories, much less 2200 or 2300. If those extra calories are clean foods, you can't go wrong. They are only going to help you lose weight.

This plan has worked for me. Of course, everyone is different, but I've had great results so far with my program (of course, I learned of the program from John). :gl:

Ju Jitsu is like a total body workout. An intense 10 minute warmup of constant jumping or running, situps, pushups. Then throwing your partner for the next 30 minutes. Thats continuesly getting up and doing a move. I find it much harder than when I do cardio, lol.

I'm going to go a week and see what I've lost with 2000 calories then give 2300 a try. Thanks for the information :)

one more note, track your BF religiously, because if you lose weight, but not fat proportionally as expressed by BF%, that's muscle you're losing, and you need to up your calories.
