Goal: To gain weight while lowering my BF%

Do you think this is possible? I do.

I will be following a strict diet and workout routine that should enable me to gain muscle mass (which is heavier than fat) while loosing body fat at the same time. So what I would like to do is Gain 1 lb of muscle for every 0.5 lbs of fat that I loose. This means that if I gain 10 lbs of muscle and loose 5 lbs of fat, I have technically gained 5 lbs while looking leaner and bigger.

I know I am not currently fat or big but to me I am not happy with the way I look. And that is what matters right.

Current statistics Unflexed and Unpumped:

*note: my left side is much smaller due to a severely broken left ankle Dec 26th of 2003 which left me bed ridden for 1 month, on crutches for 4 months and a cane for 2 more months.

That is a 14 lb gain in lean mass while loosing approximately 7 lbs of fat.

I will be posting weekly updates and monthly pictures. Wish me luck and help keep me motivated. Brent Baker.

You really dont have too much fat on you, so I think you would have better results if you cut the fat first (should take that long from where you are now), then bulk, and then cut one more time

OR even just start bulking now and then cut

the only time ive seen ppl lose fat while gaining muscle is when they first start workingout, commonly known as "newbie gains"

So do you think it would be faster to cut first and then bulk. Cause if I cut I want to cut down to 8 %. I think I may bulk for 6 weeks and then cut if I were to still reach my goal.

Yeah, I would prob cut, bulk, and then cut once more

Ok, one week has gone by and so far so good.

I have gained 1/8 of and inch on every major muscle group including biceps. I have also gained 3.5 lbs and even trimmed a little fat :tu:

I really need to take pictures but been to busy working out and working.

My daughter is sick though and so is my wife, I hope I don't come down with it.

Well I guess it was bound to happen, now I am sick and can't workout. Oh well, better let my body rest than to excersize while I am sick and make it worse.

Why did you put this in challeges rather than journals? Are you seeking people with same goals or to challege those that would cut then bulk?

Because it is a formal challenge to myself not just a journal/diary of my daily workouts.

As of this week I am back at 172 lbs which is where I started but I am noticing that my stomach area looks much thinner from the side view. Also I have gained another 1/8" on Arms and Legs so things are going well despite having not worked out for 3 days due to being sick.
