View Full Version : My Home Gym
Tommyboy Sun, February 15th, 2004, 04:53 PM Thought I'd post a few photos of my home gym setup. The first photo shows the power rack, from New York Barbells. It has the plate loaded lat attachment, which works well. I like the equipment from NY Barbells, their prices are good and they have a great selection of home gym equipment. The bench is a Hoist, which is very heavy duty and has wheels, real solid. The second pic is of my elliptical, made by Vision fitness. It's their least expensive, no fancy electronics, but very smooth and reliable (so far).
I've had the equipment since November, been working out regularly since the first of December. Starting to see some real gains. This website has been great, confirming some things I thought I already knew, I'm learning more every day. Maybe someday I'll get the guts to post some progress photos.
SCHTEEVIE Sun, February 15th, 2004, 05:36 PM great set-up!
what are your goals?
thats more a less what I would want if I were to set up a home gym.
(you need a mirror though)
:jumping:
so for dumbbells, you have the adjustable olympic handles? how do you like those?
I think I would want a full set of hex dumbells in 5 lb increments - atleast for the 10-60 pound range...
I see your bench is set-up for decline... have you tried weighted dips?
my understanding is that they are more effective then decline...?
corbint Sun, February 15th, 2004, 07:41 PM great looking home gym bro!

Perhaps he was doing weighted or reverse crunches.
I like the set up. :tu: Very simple and effective. Another owner of TDS equipment, too.
John Stone Sun, February 15th, 2004, 08:08 PM Great looking gym, thanks for posting the pictures! :tucool:
If you don't mind my asking, how much was the elliptical? I want a nice one, but I don't want to pay for any fancy electronics - I want my money to go towards build quality only.
Razor Sun, February 15th, 2004, 10:06 PM Yet another gym that looks better than mine. I'm also curious about the elliptical's price range.
JeromeJ Mon, February 16th, 2004, 01:03 PM That's a great Gym! The setup and arrangement of the room is awesome. :tu:

Thanks, I really like it.
My goals:
Currently 39 years old, 6', 180 lbs, 18% bf.
Want to get to 12% bf, same weight by the time I turn 40 (August), I'm on my way following an abbreviated lifting routine (two days/wk) and 3-4 cardio sessions a week (just started with HIIT a few weeks ago)
I have standard dumbbells, not olympic, they work out really well. I'd like a full set of hex dumbbells too, maybe some day.
The decline setup was for crunches. I do weighted dips, actually instead of bench press. I'm making real progress there, for me. I'm up to 20#, with my next goal being 50#. Two months ago I could barely do five with good form with only bodyweight.
My 15 yr old and 13 yr old boys have started lifting too, I'm trying to set a good example.

Thanks, John. I bought all of the stuff before I found your website, felt pretty good after seeing your setup since they are kind of similar. It helped to reinforce that I bought the right stuff. Now, if I can only get to the same results!
My elliptical was just under $1000 at a place called 2nd Wind Fitness, I don't think they have them in Orlando. I like it, it's pretty well made. Unfortunately, I think you really get what you pay for with ellipticals.
By the way, I just moved from Orlando (Waterford Lakes area if you know where that is).
