View Full Version : Tweaking Carb Ratio

I just bought FitDay's program and have been tracking my caloric intake... It's pretty rough just dropping carbs down right out of the chute. I was trying a 40c/40p/20f split, but I think I'd almost err on the side of tweaking it to 45c/35p/20f.

Giving up carbs are pretty tough, especially when they're hidden in something as innocuous as yogurt.

I'm really only looking to drop 15 pounds of fat for my 'phase one'. Currently, I weigh 205#. I'm currently shooting for a max intake of 2,200 cals a day to hit my goal of 190 by 5/1/2005.

I made the mistake of eating too light on my first few days - it's actually pretty tough to get in all of the clean food to hit the mark as well as cut carbs off after 8'oclock at night.

I'm lifiting weights and am pretty active - should I keep my carbs at 40 or 45? I don't think I could handle dropping them down past 40 (at least at this point)... Can anyone shed some light on what the difference between 45c and 40c could mean over the long haul?

Thanks.

Carbs post-workout (ideally in the form of TWO offerings) are key to keeping/attaining lean mass, and to keep metabolism elevated. Your dietary plan of attack should consist of two approaches. One for days you train w/weights, and one or days you do not. As your activity differs, so does the fuel that you consume. So, it's not as simple as total amount of carbs, but of more importance is where those carbs are, what they are eaten with, the purpose of having them, etc.

BTW, 15 lbs. in 5 months should be EASY!!! I'm 261 right now, and I'll be 235 by the end of March, if not before that.

Best of luck w/it!

Thanks. I trimmed down last summer to 195, and it wasn't all that difficult to do, but this time I want to try and make it stick. I've been around the block a few times so I'm not a beginner, but still need to learn the finer points on trimming down.

I'm really wanting to hit 5/1 running - and complete a Sprint Triathlon. I'll be teetering just under the Clydesdale limit, so I'm sure I'll come in dead last. But all I want to do is finish.
