Hello, I was browsing the internet about weight loss and found this forum.
First of all, let me introuduce myself a little bit.
I am 16 years old and I am currently attending a highschool in california.
I am rather short, around 5' 3'' or 5' 4'' (asian) and I am starting to be concerned about my weight. I am around 150lb and I am tired of people calling me "fat" and "chubby". I don't seem much fat but I have a large tummy and I have the dreaded "double-chin". I don't get picked on or anything but I want to stop myself from being fat and become normal or if possible, be cut. I have tried to do sports at school but they do not really seem to be fitting me at all. And I am somewhat anti-social so I do not enjoy being in team sports much. My friends who are around me talked to me about running alot and doing jump ropes and I am basically trying to do it. I would very much love to purchase nice treadmills and all but my parents do not make enough money to have those luxurious items around the house. My parents agreed to buy me a bench press if it will help me.
So, what exercises should I start doing? I have no clue what to do and I never tried a diet before.

First of all welcome to JSF. We're glad to have you. :)

Congrats on deciding to make a healthy choice and incorporate fitness and healthy eating into your lifestyle. Luckily for you you woke up and found this desire at your age and not at 20/30-something when you had much further to go!

You won't need fancy equipment. My best results came from early lifting (around your age) at the crappy gym in high school. Newbie gains are a beautiful thing!

It's great however that your parents are supportive enough as they are. Getting you a basic bench, barbell, some weights and maybe some dumbbells would be a great help, but don't underestimate the school gym (I assume yours has one). Get in a weightlifting class if possible. Go after school (mine was always open). If you can do this they should have all the basics - bench, squat rack, dumbbells, lat pulldown machine, maybe even a bike or treadmill if you're lucky (though I don't think cardio will be necessarily necessary). If you can't do this then you can absolutely change the heck out of your physique (and life!) working out at home with only the bare essentials.

Be sure to read through this forum, check the stickies at the top, and research online.

Good luck!
